Daily Golf - Where you are playing and how you go

Finally got some internet coverage on our holidays... The Belfry Derby course was great, pretty wet, and is clearly not the championship course but still a good little course... Using borrowed clubs and shoes was happy ish with my round. . Struggled on the first 3 holes of each nine... 13 over for those holes and then came good each time... Here is a copy of my card...

Also bought a Belfry hat, towel and driver cover, cost a fortune but worth it...

Managed to get 3 rounds in over christmas, after not playing for 6 months or so. Went 50 at regency, 99 at Nuri and 93 at kapunda, so pretty happy

Really wish i could play more often.

Another horrible round.
Used the driver for first time in a few weeks.
Had a cracking drive on the 4th, where I managed to draw it around the trees.
Outside of that, it was a disaster.
Tried to tee the ball higher to get it in the air, especially on a couple of holes with a tail breeze.
Certainly did get them up......They popped straight up!!!! Useless club.
Rd 2 of the summer cup next week, my first rd was good, so somehow need to recapture that.
Driver may stay in the car......

I used to do the same thing with my driver. The key for me is to take it back low. Don't pick it up. If you are hitting the ball high off the tee you are coming down on the ball. Go to the range and practice a low extended takeaway. I think of sweeping the ball off the tee. It helped me. I still hit the odd high one, when I actually get to play that is!

I have the ball high on the tee, but do have it well forward in my stance to allow for that.
But yes I think I need to work on the takeaway.
Many years ago I used to take the club back slowly outside the line and then it would come through inside-out.
May try that and many others to find a solution....

Yesterday was PAR, the good thing is my adjusted gross was 100, on a stroke round it would've been closer to 120.....
The greens were horribly slow yesterday.

Get it right with the take away, drop it inside on the way down... draw right there!

Teeing it forward in the stance will promote a slice. Try it off the inside of your left foot... assuming you are right handed!

Yeah I tee it forward, I think the issue is the club head angle, moreso than an out to in swing.
Back to the range this arvo....

See if you can hit a demo with something with less loft. I play an 8.5 degree that helped as well.

x2 I use a 9.5 but would happily use something much lower.
It's all about club head speed, the higher the head speed, the lower loft you want.
I used an old driver with an 8 degree loft once and it **** flew but had a smaller head was harder to hit as consistently.
Right in front of me. RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!

Another even century
48 off the front, but played better.
Hybrid off the tee worked a treat until the 11th where I started popping them straight up.
Stroke round so slow.
A ****** up wanker in the group behind tried to say we should've called them through a few times and "I felt I needed to mention it"

Well dickhead we weren't slow, we kept up and in fact his group was slow at stages.....

Fair dinkum....

We had an Ambrose on Aust Day.
Our group handicap was 9.25
We had a gross 70 (-1)
Not sure where we finished.

Great fun.
I think there should be more of these style of comps and maybe in place of a Par round every 3 months.

Hit the ball ok.

Managed to get my driver working, and it better not fall apart for this weeks monthly medal.
