Just returned from a terrible day at North Adelaide (South).

Couldnt hit the ball off the tee straight all day (which butchers you there), finished with a 90.

Fairways OK, couple of GUR spots. Greens terrible- they should tell you when greens are recently cored, and I reckon a discount too. (I know this has to be done but its a rude shock when you get to the 1st green and it's holey).

Off to the range I reckon. Next game Wirrina in a fortnight.

MT if you want a program from our social club let me know, we play approx every 3 weeks, run 3 comps during the season plus day comps with nearest pins and longest drive prizes at all games. Membership is $40 which gets you affiliated with SA Golf and an Australia wide recognised handicap through the Golf-Link system... beauty is you only play when you want (eg green fees at the games you play)

This is one of my pet hates, nothing worse in golf IMO, I always ring them beforehand these days and ask, esp this time of year as they always do it in autumn

This happened to me when I was playing at Tanunda a couple of years ago. Played the first hole and found out the Greens were cored. They hadn't event been brushed over with sand yet. After two holes we walked back and asked for our money back. Just drove up to Nuriootpa and played there. I would think most courses would do the same.

list them here so we all know where to avoid, I reckon half price green fees would be fair when they have been cored.

i dont get outta bed till late sundays

ideally a friday comp would be brilliant for me...

a sat comp would be ok provided a get into an early group so i can at least get to see the bays league games..

Played there in late Feb. Greens fast, rough diabolical. Lost 4 balls!!. Normally don't lose that many in a year! Overall not bad.

Yeah we are Sunday mornings- once you are a washed up footballer it becomes slightly easier to get up on a Sunday morning!

Willunga - quite a short course - was mentioned in here earlier but I actually didnt realise that it was so short.

hit the ball quite nicely but as was gaining some momentum got held up by 3 old pensioners who were very reluctant to let me play through even though i was on my own!!!! - took a while to get back into it but its not a bad course at all.

Apart from the pensioners it was quite a quick round - not much traffic at all and only a nice 20 min drive from home

Course in top nick, can't complain too much at all since we won with the best gross score of 65.

Greens had been cored about 2-3 weeks and the grass had grown back pretty quick. Nice coverage of grass on the fairways, which makes shot making easier when the ball sits up nicely for you.

Played off the white markers and almost managed to drive into the dam on 15 off the tee.

Played at Balaklava on Saturday morning. Course is looking ok. Greens have been cored about a week ago but should be in good nick in a week or two. Had an 85 off the stick which included a 4 put on the 18th.

Played Nuri on Sunday and thought the course was in reasonable condition...

Some tough dog-leg holes and a couple of long par 3's...

Played stabelford and stuggled on the front 9 off the tee with the driver, ended up with just 16 points...

But then put the driver away on the back 9 and started hitting some puts, having a birdie on a par 5 and 3 pars in a row to score well on the lower index holes.

Came storming home with 25 points thinking I was a chance to win the day with 41 but ened up missing out by 2 points from one of the older fellas playing off 30 odd who shot to his handicap on the day and pipped me.

Due to play Mt Pleasant next, what's that course like ?

26/02/2009 TRAVEL: Travel - McCracken Country Club near Victor Harbor, South Australia.

VICTOR Harbor's golf course and 62-room hotel complex, the McCracken Country Club, is on the market for $8 million.

Country Club Hotels & Resorts chief executive Andrew Bullock said investors were moving on to new projects after building up the site over the past 10 years.

"Now is the right time. We think the signs of recovery in the hotel sector have been pretty sizeable . . . (and) South Australian tourism has been fairly resilient," he said.

"The property is fairly unique, though.

" We think the buyers will be out there regardless of the environment.

"But there is an enormous flow-on to the community, not only through salaries and wages but through purchasing and local distributors of fruit and vegetables.

"Whoever buys the property will still require (our) 70 staff and they will still need goods and services."

The sale includes the par-72 golf course and 62-room hotel complex, with convention centre built in 2005, and 14 lakes. Victor Harbor chief executive Graeme Maxwell said the sale was significant as the resort was not only one of the area's biggest employers but was also a big supporter of the community.

He believed it had been performing well "so an incoming operator is likely to want that to continue".

Played my usual sunday round at Tea Tree Gully yesterday and it rained from the second hole to the 18th shot 38 points with 2 scrathes and 2x 1's.... choked on the 18th went into wall of the bunker from 90 out and after 2 shots in the bunker picked the ball up and walked off very dissapointed.... had 41 points in my sights
