That is in my top 3 of pet hates on public courses. Failure to rake bunkers and repair pitch marks are the other 2

Apologies about the "even" part. Full truth was I thought I shot 50 however mid post I re-checked the card and it totalled 51 however I didn't preview the post. Was on 30 after 6 which included a 7 but being held up for minutes at a time for a shot pissed me off as I was on one of my rare streaks. I didn't want to hit it at the old blokes as I'm certain it would have killed one of them if it hit them. Then I'd have to wait even longer to play through....

Had a good afternoon at the Wallaroo Australia Day 4-person Ambrose yesterday.

Well, the weather was good, the beer was cold. The golf left a bit to be desired (-3, winners shot -10)

The course itself has watered fairways but doesn't have greens. It's also nice and open, meaning shot sprayers shouldn't lose too many balls.

One of the novelty prizes was a nearest to the line, where a 200m line (string or thin rope) is drawn down the middle of the fairway.

If your drive was closest to the line, you win a prize. Never seen that before.

The corporate day I play at Kooyonga each year has the straight drive comp with the string down the middle ( only drives 200m+ count ), they have the nearest pin ( of course ) and the longest drive.

They also have the club pro on a par 3 where for a donation to the charity of the day, you can take him on for nearest the pin. So, say you bet him $5, you put $5 in the tin. If he *ahem* gets inside you, you pay the other $5, if you beat him you get the $5 back, which obviously stays in the tin for the charity.

The winning straight drive last year was all but 275m exactly (GPS said 275.06m) and less than one ball away from the string. Nice. ( No, not me. )
PAFC. Forever.

LOOK OUT, WE'RE COMING!

I like the idea of the pro having a hit. Wallaroo set a couple of "bookies" up on a par 3 and according to your handicap, you were given odds of hitting the green (I reckon it was like 2/1 for anyone 1-20 and 3/1 for above that). Max bet of $5.

Good little fundraiser and no one collected their "winnings" regardless. Bit of fun.

went out for a hit last friday at "royal thaxted" and the course isn't in the best of conditions considering the extra water they have available to them now. they are re-doing the 9th which is going to look great, but that is at a detriment to the rest of the front 9 at the moment. it is playing as a par 69 with 4 par 3's on the front.

it was another break from my last hit (not by choice unfortunately) and hit the ball great again, leaving with an 84 off the stick.

Was on track to beat Tiger off the stick yesterday but with 5 holes to play my short game decided to desert me. Still managed to hang on to play to my handicap though

Had our first round of the Pennant yesterday we (Mawson Lakes) Played Regency away and got pants 5-3. I personally played quite a good round but lost 3and2. I was disappointed to lose obviously, But as I said I played well. I played against a guy playing off 14 where I'm off 17 so I guess we both played to our handicap.

First time in a match play event. Really enjoyed it.

Happier with my 95 @ the Pat South course on Wednesday. Would have been even happier if I didn't shoot a 9 on the 17th :(
