Just a comment on the design of the course and im no expert, but there were quite a few holes where you tee off over a crest and it was impossible to see what was happening over the other side. If we had of teed off blindly over the crest we could have hit someone. Each time we drove our buggy down to see where the group in front of us were. Not sure golf course designers take much interest of safety but in all seriousness crests 150m from tee offs and no vision over the other side is bloody stoopid.

that was one thing I made note of when I played there, lucky we were only blokes around when I played it.
Sautrdays and sundays could be dangerous though!!
for a guy that had never played it aswell, made it hard to know where the hole was
alot of elevated greens aswell, so if you chipped on and had a bit much on it they would roll off the other side!!

Sandy Creek is a nice course until the final 3 holes which are shockers, on the 16th you can hit a perfect drive down the middle and still not have a full shot at the green due to over hanging trees over the fairway

Im playing at Grange tomorrow, looking forward to it, even going to hit the driving range today to try and hit some form

Mawson Lakes hole 4 par 3....look out for f...ing magpies swooping down. We were warned on the way thru and right on cue the f...er came swooping. Hole 2 is the dogleggest dogleg around that ive seen. Im a fan of the type of grass on the fairways there as the ball sits perched and suits my style tho ive heard the fairways get pretty barren come summer.

Had a good round at Grange today, nice course (West), was pretty windy and exposed being a links type course, greens were rock hard and very hard to land and keep a ball on the green, makes you play different type of shots, wouldnt rate it as good as Koey

This is a bit off the track but ill report nonetheless. Was up in Palm Cove Queensland last week (just north of Cairns). Dying to play one of the fine palm lined golf courses around the area we decided to play Palm Cove Country Club Golf Course. Looked the part, apartments lining the fairways, plenty of palms and some water. Sweet, pay for the round, hire some clubs and a buggy, purchase some balls ...$50 later lets play. First hole... shot one... tee off with a one wood to a flag about 300m away. Get into the buggy and start driving when we discover a flag a hundred metres ahead. Apparently we were aiming at the flag on hole 2. So we go back and re tee off to the small par 3 Hole 1. No probs..hole 2 another par 3...What the...check scorecard...theyre all par 3's. Get Fugged. In the middle of so many nice courses we end up playing a **** Par 3 course. After some self pity we decided to make our own "course". Hole 1 was now a Par 4 to Hole 2's flag. Holes 4,5,6 became a Par 5 and Hole 9 at 250m was a designated Par 4. We played each 3 times and got our 9 Hole Par 39 course. The moral of the story is never drink before a game of golf and always check the Par of the course before assuming its a Par36.

LMAO, about this time last year while holidaying in between jobs up in Cairns we stayed at Palm Cove and I too was planning on playing there. As I walked in from our resort ( about a 15 minute walk ) I must have looked to be dressed for golf as a punter in another resort stopped me and told me that it was only a par 3 around the corner.

So I went to the Palm Cove hotel over looking the water for 4 hours while Mrs.Boon and juniors went for a drive into Cairns to see her mMother, upon their return and being a little under the weather I explained I only played 9 and got bored on my own so went to the pub instead.

That was Origin game 3 day in 2008, the pub was Maroon from top to bottom and some very scary heads looked to be firing up for the game. In a Power shirt which was mainly blue I got out of there just in case they thought I was a cockroach.

Played Blackwood recently and was impressed. Yes it's tight but makes you think rather than just walk up and slam it. Greens are currently in good nick which IMO is usually the case. Need to play it conservatively though, once you're off fairway there's not much point looking for you ball, just reload and have another crack!!

Last 2 games have been at Koey and the Pat. The Pat was in pretty good knick for a course that gets so much traffic, its nice to play to get yourself back into some form with not too many demons, the par 5's are pretty straight forward especially the 4th (2nd shot into greenside bunker) 13th (driver 7 iron to green) & 17th (driver 8 iron to green) as they all play down wind if the sea breeze is up. The 13th fairway is rock hard and lets a good drive roll a long way. I got on the green in 2 and then 4 putted  . Worth a round there tough, although i can imagine the traffic it will get over the holiday season will be terrible and suggest you take a drive to one of the nearby country courses

Played at Loxton a couple of weeks back in their 4 ball Ambrose day and the course is in super nick, despite getting an absolute drenching the night before....

Victor Harbour last week in sensational condition, highly recommended for the holiday season.. Despite topping one off the first tee...

Been on Renmark very regularly, the course is in absolutely fantastic knick. Unlike Berri and Loxton, Renmark has a water scheme which means it cops plenty of water and looks A1.

But it wouldnt matter if i played off the fairway or the moon, i still manage to make a mess of my rounds.

You're right RB, Renmark maintains itself well. Berri looking a little dry and greens a bit suss.

i went for a walk on the Berri golf course this morning and it's looking good. Plenty of green grass.

I must admit I have only seen Berri from the main road and from the Tavern. Never played it. Whats the layout like. Good course?

I played the front nine yesterday, the back nine the week before and it certainly has a number of really dry patches.

I smashed a drive on number 4 yesterday and it caught a powerline, making the ball spin backwards through the air, causing it to float slowly up the fairway.

Knocked about 100m off the drive but it landed on the fairway so I played it anyway.

It was either take the fairway drive or hit another and more than likely head out into the scrub.

Yeah, it's a good course, nice and open so it tends to be pretty forgiving, unlike the forest trees at Renmark.
