After being 6 over after 3 holes ended up recovering to shoot 90 which wasnt too bad.

Was it windy? I've played there twice and once it was seemingly still in Moonta, yet The Dunes was blowing a gale. Haha.

I think the local council has taken ownership of the Dunes now, after the developers ran out of cash and couldn't water the fairways.

They were dry and hard but have since recovered well I hear. The greens have always been super quick and immaculate though.

I think they would just about be the best in the state.

Played Barossa (near Nuri) on Sunday. Warm conditions but it kept a lot of people off course, which is always good when you're spraying them off the tee as I was. Haha.

Had 103. Considering the way I hit them off the tee, was not unhappy with the result. Greens were moderately paced and consistent. The price was pretty good (I think about $27 for 18 holes).

Im not a smart man but why do theses developers think that they are on to a winning idea when every other similar project in SA has failed eg: Wirrina, Lady bay and to a lesser extent Mc Craken

Will be adding another within the next 10 years. Dean Lukin's out there plan for a place that does not have an abundance of water available.....

Do some research and almost every golf course development goes through the hoop at least once until they find their niche market. A golf course is a 20+ year project therefore it is likely to get different owners during that period. Look at McCracken now.

Was windy for the back 9 but not too bad, the wind is its main defence, with wide fairways, big and relatively flat greens there isnt much else to concern you with on the course. Would have loved to have played yesterday as the sea was like glass.

@ MT - new driver hasnt arrived yet, after I ordered it they said it takes 6 weeks for delivery

Got a work golf day on 12th April so hoping I have it by then.

Drama on the sixth (took a nine after being unplayable twice in faaaarking bushes) and lost the plot on the par three tenth with a seven. So my ambition to crack the 100 barrier remains unfulfilled but hey, I loved it. Played some really lovely shots and only three putted one green. Thanks for asking mate

Playing in my first comp at Balaklava this morning. Hitting off at 8am.

It will also be my third card submitted for my handicap. Pressure is on!

Well that is a respectable score. How did you get on with the Golflink handicap system? 34 or 33 maybe?

What are your other 2 scores? Handicapp is going to be up and down until you get the full amount of cards in the system.

Me yesterday started like an old woman with 11 stableford points  got my shit together for the 2nd nine and flew home with 22 points. FFS!

Classic! I've put in 99, 103 and 107.

Played an ambrose at Waikerie yesterday in he windiest conditions I've played golf in.

As it was so windy the day before, I went back out this morning and played the back 9 again.

Course is in great nick, only complaint would be the amount of caltrop in the rough! Everywhere!!!

played blackwood sunday for the first time.
Was alot longer then Im used to playing but didnt allow you to use your driver as often. Alot of dog legs.
Greens were lightning fast but read true. Fairways were in not to bad a knick.
Alot of trees on the course so if you strayed from the fairway made the hole alot harder.
I had a stinker of a round but would play there again.
get on board the thunder train!!!

I think it's 3, with the best score being used as your starting handicap. Speaking of handicaps, I'm down to 13 after 36 points on Saturday. Hoping to hit 12 before the end of April.

Nice work Toot Toot!

I'm interested to see where I start and really work on some milestones. Only just became a member of my local course this year, so I'm a bit wet behind the ears and hoping I can develop some level of consistency in my game, other than being consistently sh!t. Haha

With those scores you will be in the 30's but I'm only guessing as I don't know the course ratings you have played on.

hopefully you put the handbrake on and you know you can play better then what you hit

i find thats a good way to get started

you then win your grade and your handicap goes down and the confidence builds and you feel like Tiger Woods! 8)

If you're just starting out I would get yourself a couple of lessons, will make a huge difference to your game. But like any sport getting some practice always helps as well.
