MT79, not quite SA, but had a couple of rounds at Sanctuary Lakes, VIC a couple of weeks ago on a boys weekend, quality track, well worth the visit if you are in the western suburbs of Victoria and don't want to travel a fair way to the sandbelt. Believe any club member can gain access with appropriate fees of course.

Now a member of Port Augusta. Played the back nine today. This has to be the most underrated course in SA. It is pristine - fairways soft and forgiving allowing for good second or third shots to the greens which are quick and true. All the time you have the awesome backdrop of the Flinders Ranges. Biggest single advantage - teed off at 9.15am and had the course to ourselves. Beautiful

Just realised my club (West Lakes) has reciprocal rights Port Augusta :) So I will be taking advantage of that!

Currently in white hot form, won nearly a dozen golf balls in competitions in the past 2 months plus a $100 voucher and 2 bottles of wine.

To coincide with the good form the Handicap has dropped and as a result I have moved into the next grade at the club (B Grade) now just need to keep that under 20 to stay there :)

Well the first nine nothing special started on the 10th starting with a 5 for 2 stableford points. Lost a ball (brand new one too  ) on the next hole things didn't get much better for the next 7 holes scratching around for 12 points (51 off the stick). Came home with a massive wet sail to finish with a 40 off the stick and 22 points

Where the bloody hell was that on the first nine

The old man rang me up this afternoon and asked if I wanted to play the Iron Knob open with him next weekend

Played the Copper Club Links at Port Hughes today and apart from a shower through the early holes, the sun came out and it was delightful.

Greens are laser quick, rough is better than some fairways out there too. Would like to see that they're going to do about the other nine holes.

Birdied my second crack at number two (two pins cut into large greens to effectively make it a "different" hole on the "back nine").
Right in front of me. RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!

Looking forward to this Friday as I'm taking the day off work Annual Leave for a nice 4 day weekend. Having a hit down at Links Lady Bay with my brother so should be a good day, providing the wind and rain stays away.

Yes, we changed the name of the club about 12 months ago.

Some of the older club members wanted to renew the image of the club by saying we are near a lake and move on from the clubhouse disaster.

was expecting to christen my newly acquired remote control battery powered golf buggy at Port Augusta this morning. Too bad - it hasn't stopped raining and the game was cancelled. I chose option B and am doing tomorrows work today. Ahhhh the pleasures of being self employed - highly recommended.

Played at Mt Compass yesterday- was great once we could see where we were going! (Low level cloud/fog like I've never seen before. You could barely see 50 m in front!)

Hit 33 points, but left a LOT of points out there. Drove well, but approach shots were very ordinary. A lot of brazilian putts too.

Course in good nick, they have definitely 'thinned' some of the rough since I last played there. Greens were good. Took spin but remained a good pace. Only a couple of boggy areas.

Next game is at South Lakes in a few weeks.
