The hysterical bleating by Crows supporters over The Advertiser's coverage of the Crows' drunken rampage reminds me of the too many to mention complaints and criticisms of Murdoch's baby both here and on FootySA over the past few years.

Does anybody here actually read it?

I read it to see (in hope) some SANFL news, but if there is, it would have been covered here already.

I read it and I subscribe to it but I have absolutely no idea why.
It fills in about 5 minutes each day and considering the main reason I buy it is for SANFL news and most news is on here 2 days before the paper grabs it I have no idea again.
Quite often I stop at the London Tavern on the way home to have a quick beer or 2 before I catch a bus and they have the Australian there to read for free, I can't believe how much better that is a paper to read.
I keep meaning to cancel my subscription but never get around to it, no idea why.
I reckon I will soon and send them a letter telling them why.

Having said that I'd like to say a big HELLO to all those Advertiser journos that read this site, I know you guys are pushing for more SANFL in the paper and are caught between a brick and hard place. Perhaps some Boti Nagy'esqe reporting might be the way to go to keep it entertaining to the masses?

I enjoyed the read about the cows players and there drunken rampage. Probably the best bit of work the advertiser has done in about 8 months.

I read the 'tiser online at work. It is useful for local news which the Australian glosses over. It does take some mental effort to tune out the garbage, however. I would not waste a dollar on the hardcopy.

I usually buy the Saturday 'tiser 'coz I like to read it over a sticky bun and a cuppa.

I usually buy the Sunday Mail for the telly guide - the only thing of value in the entire rag.

Any chance that the bird who is writing in the Sunday Mail in the absence of Nicole Cornes can get the gig permanently?
If a man wrote constant articles spewing vitriol about Women, that she does about Men, the columninst would be replaced in about 5 minutes.
Another who gets the shits up because she struggles to/has struggled to get the men in her life to change into what she wants. Each individual is what they are, if you don't like it, why get with them in the first place?

At least she doesnt call every second person a "goose" like a certain other person does on the radio!!

Fair point. Must be something in the water at their household.

i think people should accept the advertiser for what it is.... yes the australian and financial review would offer you a much more intellectually challenging read and perhaps discuss a bit more of the arts and literature, etc. but personally i don't feel the pressure to be more like pretentious-sydney or artsy-melbourne. at the end of the day you can always buy the australian or any other paper if you like.

So leave the Advertiser as a gossip and local issues rag, and scrap the tramline extension! (just thought i'd chuck that in there)

If you don't know, she is Bruce McAvaney's wife.

Given the Advertiser's Mel Mansell's over the top carry on regarding treatment of his journalists a few months back, I hope he has an equally good carry on at journalists there for their unforgivable mix up where they named Central Districts footballer Matthew Slade as one of the eight suspects in the case where a woman was drugged and raped on a ship and subsequently died. Only problem was that it wasn't Central Districts Matthew Slade, it was a man with the same name.
Absolutely unforgivable and I'm not one for suing willy-nilly but in this case I hope he takes the Advertiser and other papers that identified him to the cleaners.

I don't want to defend the Advertiser (I agree it's a rag), but you won't catch too many SANFL stories in the Australian (which, by the way, is dying a slow death and has horrible circulation and advertising figures).

You're comparing a local paper to a national one. Because they have the same proprietor, you'd have to assume different readerships entirely. You'd think the local one would be parochial.
