But not Adelaide Oval I bet

Last two me they sold West End was at the Sturt v Port GF, might have had some left over we used at the test match after it. That day and the test match were the two most feral times I worked there. Made Power home games seem like teddy bear picnics.

Other beers only give it a run for money if they're on special.

Obviously your pub & the other pubs you drink at are in the minority otherwise they wouldn’t be shutting shop
FWIW at my local, very few drink West End. Carlton Draught easily sells the most followed by Coopers Pale.

I'd say West End and Super Dry are on par at ours, Carlton Draught the Pale Ale, mainly older blokes though.

We've been getting a few groups of women in on a Thursday night lately, even some coming in alone, they mainly get the Corona's with the lemon slice, a few pint up though.

The place has a ton of potential given it's location and size, it's pretty disappointing that the owners are content with it plodding along and making sure the pokies roll the money in.

According to the article in today's fishwrap, the Adelaide pubs where the most West End beer is consumed are:

  • The Clovercrest (Modbury North)
  • Modbury Plaza Hotel
  • Midway Tavern (Elizabeth)
  • Beach Hotel (Seaford)
  • Mansfield Park Hotel

I thought the LoP was more of a cocktail joint ... I had a couple of Slippery Nipples there once. ;)

No Land of Promise?

The Emu in Morphettvale is a shock absence from that list.

A few pubs in the Port couldn’t have been too far away either.
Largs Pier and the Alberton Hotel come to mine.

At least the chimney tradition will continue at the Emu!
