With school holidays so close, I don't understand why the government don't just bite the bullet and close them now. Even if they have to shorten the other school holiday periods later.

I can't see many schools not being able to teach remotely. Our plan is to go with Microsoft Teams and also SEQTA Forums. Our teachers are currently teaching both live, and remotely, for each lesson.

Our school is also heading down the Teams path as it seamlessly (ahem) links with the rest of the 365 Suite...

All teachers have been told that their programs on SEQTA need to be completely ready to go for online learning by the end of Wednesday...

Most teachers are pretty good, but we have run across some issues in the Junior school due to Shared classes and multiple programmes, Junior School don't like change but for their students to be able to access the full programme while they are at home, they are going to have to make adjustments... they can be a precious bunch...

Surely teachers aren't going to take the April school holidays off? They should be working flat out to prepare for a term of learning via remote methods?

If kids are found to be roaming the streets or hanging out at malls the parents need to cop penalties

So what do you reckon most of them have been doing for the past 2 weeks, while wrangling the classes that they already have, not knowing if they were going to be shutdown, but not actually shutdown because parents/government will still expect them to teach students while not onsite.

Nah you're right screw their holidays...

Everyone is making huge sacrifices at the moment, teachers are no different.

Banks closing their doors for the rest of the week because of early school closures in Melbourne, the flow on effect is huge and totally understandable why we haven't closed schools.

Not sure how they wouldn’t be ‘stood down’ without pay but I wouldn’t be surprised if the government doesn’t step in for teachers

Don’t have an issue with that, would it be a full week?

You’ll be earning every $ as well when it happens.
Working remotely with staff is hard enough, I’d hate too have to do it with kids

We've had school of the air for 60 years, not sure how "remote" teaching is any different, surely there's already some form of blueprint there

In answer as to why teachers wouldn't get paid, is that a large percentage are either relief or contracted.

no workee, no monee.

So all these parents that whinge about teachers not doing their job - now you'll get to do it for them.
