Coffee Pod Machines - Home/Office

A bit over 12 months ago we got a Pod Coffee Machine for use at home. IMO it does a pretty decent coffee, and when you break down the cost, compared to buying a coffee every day, it's ok.

Our local supermarket had a "deal" on the CAPINO expressotoria system pod machine. My understanding is this model is at the bottom end of the pod machine market. The deal was buy $50 worth of coffee pods (obviously the Vittoria brand) and they threw the machine in for free. We grabbed it.

Over the past 12 months there has been a few issues, but some fairly basic maintenance was all that was required. So long as you de-scale the machine every few months, this seems to cure all. Ours seems to work best when the water reservoir is kept fairly well topped up. Also pays every so often to completely drain the water reservoir and clean it out of silt etc. We exclusively use rain water to make our coffees. At least once a week I also run a half cup of water through the machine (without a pod in place) just to keep things clean.

For mine the coffee is certainly good enough. So much so, that I really don't bother visiting my local café any more. For less than $1 a cup at home, why would you pay $4 - $5 elsewhere? Sure its a lot smaller cup, and if time permits I will have 2 cups in the morning. And that's me done for coffee for the day. :D

My "brew" of choice is the Vittoria Gold Expresso..... there are some compatible "non vittoria" pods that fit our machine as well. These are often cheaper than the Vittoria pods, but for mine not as good.

Any others with Pod machine experiences.... Good, Bad, or otherwise?

Nespresso, George Clooney model.

Appregio, Ristretto, Roma. I like the strong ones, the machine is easy to use and like you, once a week a flush with just water and it's fine. The tank is clear and easy to see that there is never any sediment / gunge.

Officeworks sell a range that matches the pods of Nespresso, about $5 for 10 pods.

The Clooney model is that top of the range??
If you don't mind Booney.... what was the $$$ damage on it?
So do you find officeworks cheaper on pods than a supermarket?
Is yours a home or office machine?

Work, machine was about $250 with milk frother/warmer.

Pods, urrgh, at one stage you could either buy them online or in Rundle Mall store, thats it! That was a pain in the arse, two of us would go, park in Gawler Place engine running while one went and brought up 200 pods.

Pod cost? About the same in store or online, but now more options are available that fit the machine that are cheaper.

We don't have a milk warmer with our machine. Pretty simple though, I pour into a cup my milk, and sugar - give it a quick stir, then microwave it for 30 seconds. Job Done.

We have a Nespresso with the inbuilt milk frother.......... Was about $500 from memory.
I find the Nespresso capsules too weak and too sweet and don't use them.
I use the Vittoria pods like yourself as they taste stronger and you can buy them from woolies.
