Being charged to access Adelaide Now web site

The Advertiser has started charging people to access their Adelaide Now web site regardless whether you already pay for home delivery. While I don't disagree with them withholding information from the general person browsing and making them pay for it. I disagree that when I pay for 7 day home delivery that then should allow me to have complete access to the info they put up on their web site.

Obvious not I was told during my phone call to the Advertiser

A while ago they wanted me to make direct debit to pay for delivery in return I was told the cost would NEVER rise. Now to get 7 day delivery and total web site access I need to go on another plan which negates the previous agreement of no price rise EVER. Saving 90 cents now will definately cost me more in the future when prices rise.

I have cancelled my subscription because of this and will not bother buying the Advertiser in the future.

Apparently if you register with your local library you can access them all for free.

It's an opt-in subscription at the moment ... if you're on a subsidised home delivery subscription you don't have to take up the online subscription.

In fact, you can have a separate online subscription ultimately for $4 per week, after paying $1 for the first month, in addition to your current subsidised home delivery subscription if you wish.

There's no doubt that they will phase out the current home delivery subsidised subscription for the new standardised price but I'd imagine that will be down he track sometime.

Not much to worry about at the moment I would have thought ...

can you still do the workaround by using google to open up the page?

The old Herald sun one could be worked around by searching for the article title. It'd appear in full on the right of your browser window and open up just like you'd paid for it.
