Best Place to live in Adelaide

Looking to move back to Adelaide, married with 2 kids. Just wondering which suburbs are more suitable for raising a family. Potential job position in Port Adelaide. Willing to travel 35 mins to work. Cheers.

Once the wife and I finally decide to buy a home, we'd be inclined to settle in/around Gawler, despite the travel times to our respective workplaces.

Semaphore is awesome. Been there 12 months. Cafés, beach, dog friendly, 20mins to City, train, not yuppy like henley/westlakes/glenelg. Plenty of pubs for a hard earned thirst ;)

Alberton house prices remain pretty steady. Some nice big old places around and a few on the market at the moment.

Budget - $450-550k

You need to give us a bit more information mate, buying, renting? Private schooling? Want to live in an area that is more young people, do you want to buy the worst house in the best area you can afford and renovate etc?

Still, for your list, Wynn Vale / Golden Grove / Greenwith / is within that distance, loaded with young people, Keithcot Farm Primary is a Public School that is very popular and sought after in the area. There are various good Private Schools up there. Neighbouring suburbs are Surrey Downs and Modbury North if you want to buy an older home on the larger 1/4 acre block at a reasonable price and still have the benefits of the neighbouring area. 30 mins or less to Port Adelaide down the expressway.

Me and the missus are searching for a rental to get away from Munno in August.

I wanna move back out North Haven/Largs Bay way if possible, but we're also looking in Hillbank, Greenwith, Golden Grove in the north, and West Lakes Shore, Semaphore and Alberton in the west.

Working in Port Adelaide means the North/Northeast is more open now because of the Northern Expressway

Any areas that are 10 minutes or so from that are only 20 - 30 minutes from Port Adelaide.

As others have mentioned it all depends on the budget.

I'm partial to the TTG council area though, lovely green foothills - O-Bahn to the city (which is quicker than driving), lovely to drive around - shops and schools - still only 15km or so to the CBD if driving.

Ditto this, lived within the TTG Council for over two years now and love it, couldn't imagine moving out of the area.

I don't live in the east myself but surely norwood or rose park, unley park etc would be 'the best places to live in Adelaide' as the thread title suggests. No offence to ttg etc but seriously ..

Much cheaper to live in the council across the river ... we don't have to pay off Golden Grove
