I've done this before with craft glue- you can try nailpolish remover but be careful to only apply it to the glue you need to remove as you might damage other parts of the table. Maybe try using a cotton bud.

cheers, that was one option a site said, but wasnt sure how good it would be
others were some undu or goo gone, so i might check a craft store.
just a bit worried of ruining the table, was very expensive, so assuing will be a crap load to fix if we ruin it removing the glue

Have you got access to a paint stripper / heat gun? Perhaps some gentle heat and a rag to move it....boiling water perhaps?

I hear ya brother.

Yep, I think slowly heating it would be the go. Google sent me to a page that suggested the heat gun/ boiling water to get the glue off of timber floor boards.

Toothpaste.

Then oils the table afterwards so it doesn't dry out

Cant guarantee it wont damage it so if it's an expensive table don't try it

Maybe try the same method to getting wax off anything, a tea towel over the glue and then iron over it.

Someone else suggested to me WD40 once because it wont damage any surface but I don't own any so never tried it
