I'm looking at building on a block of land in the near future and i'm turning to the SAFooty faithful to point me in the right direction in terms of a builder.

Who does a good job, who doesn't? Who have you dealt with and who would you recommend/not.

There are so many out there these days it would help to have someone eliminate a few for me!

For interests sake i'm looking at eventually building something with 3+ bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a double garage...

Quite a few builders hitting tough times, Ian Wood Homes has just gone under, which means only the good ones will survive in the main and some good deals will be had over the next year or so.

We have the block of land in Golden Grove but have had a few issues with getting the plans ready and onto Council due to a stuff up by the builder (Fairmont Homes).

While we have been disappointed with the stuff up, our Building Consultant has been excellent with regards to communication so it has eased things a little bit.

So hopefully now everything is going to go relatively smoothly from now on.

I am also in your position. Id say stay away from Statesmen, one bloke from there is sending us numerous aggressive emails and when we asked for a design on how it will fit on the block, he send us a hand drawn outline of the house. He has also sent email with just smiley faces in them.
Im going with Stirling, only because the blokes there has been excellent with his customer service and not push.

Rivergum was great while they were asking for money. Now we're after some after sales service, they don't have any. I got an abusive email from one of the directors at 11.40pm on a Saturday night. Over 12 months later we're still waiting for stuff to be fixed from our three month inspection.

In the process of buying an investment property from Integrity New Homes Adelaide, was a new build that was completed. Good quality home with all the trimmings. The industry is slow now but will/should pick up with the gov grants so building may not take all that long at the minute either. We dealt with the Director of Integrity and he has been a good guy to deal with.

Expecting our has to be built by June/July can't wait!!!!

Does anyone know much about the new home buyers assistance is? Is it $17 per $100 over $400k up to $450k. Just trying to finalise my quote!

We were expecting to have our place built by May, two chances of that happening now...
