Cut it down yourself and get the stump removed professionally. Cost me $40 plus chainsaw fuel a few years back to do this.

I sold one in my old house for nearly $2000.
If it is a sought after variety and a good size can be worth good money

The roots are insane....I removed two small ones myself and when I say small, they were about 7 feet tall. Cutting it down was easy, removing the stump was painfull.

if you decide to cut it down yourself, dont use a chain saw. you will spend more time unclogging it than using it. get a good bow saw, will be much quicker. chainsaws are good on woody trees, but palm trees just strip into clingy stringy pieces and clog up the bar.
however, as others have said, shop around. someone will buy it and pay you to take it away!

That's what I thought to start with, but job completed inside 2 hours, almost no clogging of the chainsaw at all. Got lucky, maybe?

Count that as a win then sir, they only duped you $150 extra over thier original quote in the space of two weeks, did it have a sudden growth spurt?

The dude just made $1350 from the Dogman and then went 2k up the road and sold it for $1500. Probably on his way to Bali already for a short holiday.

Better Homes & Gardens had a story last week I think, landscapers sometimes need established trees for projects.
