It's 11 years since that horrible day that changed the world forever. I remember watching 'Talking Footy' late that night and they were interviewing Nick Holland then suddenly it went to the coverage where one plane had flown into the World Trade Centre and what followed was mind blowing.

Woke up for day 3 of year 10 work experience. Had the same feelings as yesterday actually as well I didn't know what to do.
Even did the same thing for lunch I think I went to the beach and ate listening to the waves roll in under the sun. Good way to reflect on the events of the day then refocus on what comes up next in life.

Still seems like yesterday, but over a decade now since it happened. Was surreal watching that footage when I got up in the morning to go to school.
Went to NYC for xmas/new yrs this past yr and went to ground zero. Was crazy to think two huge buildings once stood in its place and thousands of people died there.
FWIW IMHO NYC has taken it in their stride and it's still the greatest city in the world!

I was 13. Just finished watching Rove and was about 5 minutes into the news with Sandra Sulley. They went live to New York after the first plane hit and they thought it was an accident. Then as I was watching I saw the second plane hit live, and everyone realised it was an attack. Sat up for hours watching the coverage. The next morning I went to school and had Art first up and sat there telling everyone what was going on, since I dont think many 13 year olds sit up watching the news most night.

I remember watching it on the Television thinking it was a Movie to begin with but then realised what was happening. It is one of the saddest days that has ever happened in the free world. Friends from the States and I wear talking about it as it happened. Lucky for them at the time they were living on the West Coast but they had no idea if any attacks would happen out there. Kinda surreal as parts of the North East U.S were off line and there was limited contact.

My birthday has never been the same since. I don't mean that to sound selfish, cause i know so many people lost so much that day.... It still baffles me someone could do it.. I got to visit ground zero last january... one of the most surreal experiences of my life something i'll never forget... Very sad...

I would of been only 10 but I can still remember Sandra Sully having absolutely no idea when she didn't have an autocue to read off.
If you head to bigfooty the thread on there is good reading.

You know the anniversary is nigh when you start to encounter images like the following on the various fora scattered throughout the interwebs:

the good old conspiracy theories. I actually had read some conspiracy on 9/11 and a lot of them actually seem legit, but all you have to do is read the debunking of the conspiracy theories to see how easy it is to con people.

Are you sure it's Psyber who like the conspiracies?

Rather than theorise on what may have happened beforehand, analyse what has actually conspired since, as it's far more tangible. And probably don't do it in remembrance threads.

I've never thought it was a conspiracy, and I'm not into conspiracy theories - unless they involve Apple or Microsoft!
I woke up in the morning and turned on the TV for the news.
My first thought was that the Yanks may respond by nuking somebody if they could track the source of the attack.
I was rather relieved when nothing happened over the next few days.

Got a feeling I've posted this on here before but can't be bothered checking.
I must have switched the TV off minutes before the live coverage began. The first I knew of what happened was hearing something along the lines of "if you haven't heard what happened overnight in New York" on triple M's 6 am news. I turned on the TV and saw it for myself.
I'll always remember getting to work and being told by a workmate called Mario (who looked like the puppet from the Dolmio ads) "Looks like world war 3 just started."

I was sixteen. My boyfriend rang me up at five in the morning and said 'Oi, you need to turn on the TV, the f***ing Twin Towers just got bombed and s***! Two f***ing planes flew into 'em, and the Pentagon as well!' ...and I said 'OK, I'll do that' and hung up and went back to sleep, then went off to school without telling anyone. He was a stoner and extremely paranoid and I thought he was either playing a prank or had been watching his violent music videos and thought they were real. Then when I got to school everyone was talking about it and I realised he'd been telling the truth and that I'd just walked out of the house without saying anything to my family. After school I caught the bus into town and there were people on street corners everywhere selling special editions of the Advertiser. There was a strange atmosphere, like a barely audible but unnatural buzzing in the air. People were walking around like usual but something had changed.

I was doing year 12, mum woke me up (was the norm) got up to have my breakfast ready and watched it on the news, a close mate at school was a Muslim fella who didn't come in for 2 weeks, and when he returned was convinced that his phone was tapped and that the Aus government were after him. Never found out what he had to hide...
