Are you in favour of this or is it wrong to expect people to submit a wee sample to get it?

Can we test them for spending money on pokies, smokes and cheap hookers too?

There's only a certain amount of jobs out there, testing for drugs is hardly going to change that.

Wedgie smart idea easiest way is to pay their bills, rent out of the dole before they get it and give them food stamps or vouchers that prohibit them from buying cigarette and alcohol. I agree there is only ex amount of jobs out there. But their are people who want to work and those who just sit on the dole.

I know heaps of people I have come in contact with when I was unemployed and through where I live and work. There are alot out there who believe they are entitled to the dole for the rest of their life.

I believe they're already doing this in some parts of the Northern Territory, or at least were trialling it?

I think drug testing is a bit over the top, but im a big fan of the proposal of the "card" where they can only use their dole payments at certain approved places etc so they cant blow it on drugs/alcohol/pokies etc.

It's a shame really the whole situation, it takes away peoples independance a bit, but unfortunately too many people who rort the system..

I think yes. You want to smoke weed or take ecstasy, get a job to pay it and don't let the Australian tax payers pay for it. In saying that I bet their would be people on here in the dole who have dabbled in substances

If I have to have random drug and alcohol test at work to earn money to make a living and pay tax for these people why shouldn't they have to receive it. I also think they should do volunteer work as well. The simplest way to fix it is to only give them what they need to live, pay there bills and give them food. Watch how many people find work pretty quick.

You are getting tested at work for safety reasons.

Yes they do but they wouldn't dare employ the same tactic with white people.

Is the "card" also able to tell if the people are buying chips/chocolate etc to ensure they are not growing obese?

I have a several old friends living on Disability Benefit and/or Pensions.
I'm not sure how their rates compare with the "dole", but none of them are resorting to drugs or alcohol to get by.
A couple are doing voluntary work for charity.

I admit all but two have been frugal in the past and already own modest homes, which helps.
The other two are renting, but getting good deals because they have been reliable, non-destructive, tenants for years.

So what happens once someone is cut off from centrelink? Lose the roof over their heads? Unable to put food on the table for their kids? Resort to crime to help them get what they need? Add to the cities homeless?

It's ok to say "cut them off and save the rest of us some money" but what happens after that?
