I have a 15.5kw LG single phase ducted system that constantly turns itself off.....it is a fixed speed(non inverter)....which I believe it is supposed to do this when it reaches the desired temperature. But mine on some days turns itself off all the time and I have to turn it back on.
Question 1......the unit is supposed to turn itself back on isn't it? mine doesn't. I have to turn it on myself.
Question 2......when the temp inside reaches the desired temp and it turns itself off.......I know the motor turns off.....should the control panel on the wall turn off as well? As mine does??

I rang LG twice and one guy said yes and the other said no???

Anyone have any ideas?

Right.

When your unit reaches set point ( the temperature you desire ) the unit will shut off, not shut down. Then ( on a hot day, like yesterday ) when the temperature sensor in the return air grille senses a rise (+/- 2°) the unit will ramp up again to bring the temp back down.

I see :

1 - The temperature sensor in the return air is playing up, sensing it has reached set point, it ramps the unit down.

2 - I would be concerned that at shut off point the wall control panel is shutting down also.

Have you blown a fuse or had any other electrical issues?

yeah the unit appears to shut down completely.........as the control panel on the wall turns off....it has never actually turned itself back on.

We have only had it 13 months but we have hardly used it............just noticing now that it appears to be playing up.

Just want to get some feedback/experience from other people before I call LG back and get someone out to have a look at it......don't want to look like a d*ck if it is performing normally.

No other electrical issues either(that I know of)

When you power the unit up and select a desired temperature the only thing that should shut the unit and pad down all together is you. The unit will ramp up and down almost constantly but should stay on until you turn it off.

I bet Boney's nuts that they don't send anyone out, they'll refer you to a LG approved repairer and you'll just put up with it in the end, well that what I've experienced anyway, didn't wanna know me after my purchase.

Probably something in the air stream, thats what it sounds like.

I got nowhere with my more minor issues with my LG system until I wrote a snail mail to "The Manager, LG Electronics Australia" and sent it registered post.
They are replacing my controller which is not keeping accurate time - it loses 2 minutes a day - not a lot but it is a pest, and today's clocks should be more accurate.

In broad principle an over-powered unit will turn on and off more frequently and thus become more expensive to run.
Inverter circuits reduce this cost, but they gradually burn out and cost to replace when they do.
One thing my supplier got right was a putting in a lower powered unit that runs more or less continuously without excessive on and off activity.

However you controller shouldn't be turning of, just the compressor.
(PS: in my letter to LG I mentioned I had already sought advice from the Office of Consumer and Business Affairs in Adelaide.)

I went into the retailer(well known as well) and told them my problem this morning............they told me they can't contact LG and that I had to ring them myself and follow it up. WTF!!!
They happily took my $$$$ and now there is a problem......they don't want to know me.

share the retailer, those bastards deserve to be named and shamed

Your contract is with the retailer, not LG. They are obliged, legally, to make the contact on your behalf.

That's basically what I said to them.......and they told me LG are the only brand that does it this way.

I rang LG(Sydney) myself(reluctantly)........and within 30 minutes they had contacted their contractor in Adelaide who contacted me and organised to come out next wednesday and look at.
the old saying "you want something done right, do it yourself" .....applies here.

ban the retailer from future purchases
