Australia Day Celebrations

Well, Australia Day is only a fortnight or so away and no doubt everyone has their own plans to enjoy the day! I'm hoping to be at the Test cricket myself :)

Anyway, it would be interesting to know how people do plan to celebrate Australia Day?

I've also put together my own Australia Day playlist of songs that are part of the Australian Psyche for Australia Day. Before you read on - I have deliberately left out Khe Sahn as that is more of an ANZAC Day song IMHO, but it certainly has reverence for a day such as Australia Day.

Paul Norton - Under a Southern Sky
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOGkLuvRraQ
John Williamson - True Blue

Men at Work - Down Under
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zF0puJ5HO9M&feature=fvst
I Still Call Australia Home
Kylie Minogue at Sound Relief - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHmYZgJ5K_s from 3.00mins
The Seekers - I am Australian(1993)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSoGJQkKDYk
Great Southern Land by Icehouse, Live @ Sound Relief in Sydney, Australia 2009
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sk6WHBnTqpI
You're The Voice by John Farnham
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19JN50bLKjY&feature=related with Coldplay at the Sound Relief Concert
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAqaD0E1_t4&feature=related1994 JF live version
Gangajang - Sounds of Then
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ML9h3I5Uktw
Crowded House - Better Be Home Soon
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQOlwMKpmvQ&ob=av2e
Jimmy Barnes - Working Class Man
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erSJGrpfnOI&ob=av3e
Mike Brady - Up There Cazaly
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luu2E-Cv3Wo
The Church - Under the Milky Way
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNpQmlsnIwE
Advance Australia Fair
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ntYtx2P2UE performance at the Sydney Olympics
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiEycVMKoJo - Adam Hills version
Rolf Harris - Tie Me Kangaroo Down Sport
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lofgud4wLLo&feature=related Live at Albert Hall
The Angels - Am I ever gonna see your face again?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7kYVjL2lps

I steered clear of the typical "Waltzing Matilda", "Pub with No Beer", "Road to Gundagai", "Like to Have a Beer with Duncan" type songs and just focussed on songs performed by international acts that particularly resonate when you are an Aussie overseas. Rolf Harris snuck in for his performance at Albert Hall though :)

So what are you doing for Australia Day this year, and are there any other songs that you would include on your own Australia Day playlist?

only difference we have about 20 to 30 people. about 5 blow up pools and the chicks only get 5min an hour in the pools.

We head to the same mates place every year, he has the best set-up of all of us with the pool, quality backyard cricket patch and outdoor TV for the cricket with the Hottest 100 in the background.

Then to Adelaide Oval for Day 4 of the Test on the Friday, followed by a friend's wedding on the Saturday.
