So does anyone have resolutions in mind that they are keen on following through for 2012?

You'll have to go to the USA to get one of them. ;)
Here you get and licence as part of the licensing process.
(It's c for the noun, s for the verb.)

Yeah I know.
But any sacrifice is acceptable to oppose the largely accidental American cultural imperialism brought about by the default installation of English-US in computers, word-processors, and the so called education system.

This American Cultural imperialism is not accidental in my view and goes much further than language. Pay TV is a big part of it. In the past if a show was not a hit we didn't see it over here. Now thanks to Fox we get it all. American voices are everywhere...conspiracy! conspiracy! ;)

True, REB, though I saw that as lazy accident rather than intent.
What really annoys me is the fact that we now get unaltered US advertisements, which means the advertising agencies no longer see a need to localise the advertising content.

My ongoing NY resolution: "Never buy anything advertised in an American voice or with American spelling!"
Now that's an easy one to keep.
(Samsung's new "Tablet" is an example.)
