Car insurance

Anyone know of a company that offers insurance just to store your car in a garage for a year ('laid up' or 'lay up' insurance)? The only ones I've found, like Shannon's, only insure exotic cars, not a garden variety 380 :(

RAA or AAMI may - I'm fairly sure APIA offer it to us older people and they re-insure through AAMI.
Otherwise if it is laid up at home in your garage a household policy may be able to extend to cover it.
I'm not sure though, I've never had the need for such insurance.

(My household cover includes jewellery in the house as part of the contents so long as it isn't being taken outside the home, as I discovered when my wife died.)
EPIGENETICS - Lamarck was right!

Meh, no need for insurance, the 380 is safe ... who would contemplate stealing it?

We used to, not anymore though - lay up insured for fire and theft ONLY, meaning that if a tree fell on the garage and hurt your car, you were rooted anyway.

People just dont think about that stuff.

Not sure you'll find many that do it now.

Try the ombudsmun service

or a broker.

Won't the storage company offer insurance on your stored goods?

Generally not - owners responsibility.
