MUSIC guru Molly Meldrum is fighting for his life after falling from a ladder at his home.

Meldrum was treated at his home before being taken to hospital after the accident.

Ambulance Victoria confirmed it had transported a man in a critical condition after a ladder fall in the inner-city suburb of Richmond.

He was taken to the Alfred Hospital in an induced coma after being reportedly found by his gardener.

UPDATE 11.20pm: MUSIC guru Molly Meldrum is fighting for his life after a fall at his home while reportedly putting up Christmas decorations.

Meldrum, 65, was treated at his home before being taken to hospital after the accident at 6.40pm.

His friend, Garry Spry, said the rock legend had possibly broken a number of ribs, had a punctured lung and was undergoing surgery at The Alfred Hospital to relieve pressure on his brain caused by bleeding.

Mr Spry said he had been told Meldrum was putting up Christmas decorations around the upstairs spa at his Richmond home when he fell.

Mr Spry said he believed Meldrum had fallen down a flight of stairs from the spa which is about 10ft above ground - not a ladder as earlier reported.

"I think he was putting up decorations for his Christmas party," Mr Spry said.

Julia Gillard wishes Molly a full and speedy recovery. She just doesn't wish for him to get married.

One would think his health was more important at the moment. Has he even truly come out of the closet yet?
