Very nice :D

Pitch a bit of a greentop, so we'll bat first.

We usually try to have the pitch a darker green than the rest, so its more obvious. Need a bit more fetalizer this week to get it greening up!

The Esky goes in at Silly mid-on and for the duration of the game it is "Automatic Boony"

A wonderful Adelaide Oval in your back yard.

Your a very good dad. :D

1. Hit the house on the full is out.

2. Hit any shrub or tree on the full is out.

3. Hit the netting it's 4. 6 on the full.

4. 2 milk crates can be placed anywhere in the yard and if the ball hits them, your out.
(Red crate is 1 out, Blue is 2 out)

5. Any nick behind is out.

6. Hit the retaining wall on the full is out. If it bounces it's 1 run.

7. Hitting any shed or fence on the full is out.

8. Hitting anything glass is out x 2.

9. Every hit is 1 run.

10. Every hit is 2 if it doesn't go off the grass.

11. If you can find a black milk crate, you could make it 3 runs if you can hit it on the full.

12. Over the fence is innings closed and you must fetch the ball.

If the batsman's facing up at the end away from the house then that seat in the third photo is in almost the perfect "David Boon" fielding position. I'd be making that the Automatic Boony.

The pitch is cut at the lowest setting! will mow the outter at 3 next time instead of 2 so its a bit more defined!

One hand one bounce? Catch the bloody thing son!

Very nice set up mate, real stumps and all. Traditionally rubbish bins should be used however. Our rules are as follows.

Windows on the full OUT (no problemo we've got roller shutters. great invention!)
Over the fence six and out (keep it on the ground boy)
Can get caught of the house (see above)
Screen door on the full OUT
Can't run if it hits the back fence
Can't run if you don't hit the ball
No lbw
Automatic wickie
Automatic first slip
Four runs back fence
One run side fence before the driveway (with runs taken additional indoor cricket style)
Two run side fence after the driveway (with additionals)
Three runs on angled back fence (with additionals)
Players under 10 are allowed to ask for underarm bowling
Spin only when cricket balls are used (shortened pitch)
Headhunters are no balls
Must tell batsmen if switching sides
Shed (Cut shot) four runs on the roll, six on the full
5 innings per match
Batting order is the reverse of the bowling order
If you are 1/51 and everyone else is 3/26 and 3/35 you don't bat until someone else passes you
Maximum of eight balls per over
Maximum of six runs per shot

Might play today as sport is ****** at this time of year.

regards,

REB

Superb!

Growing up we used to have a wooden screen about 2.5m x 2.5m that we used as auto wickey, it covered most snicks but the bowler could move it to make it more strategic, i.e. you could move it over to cover more of a first slip catch but give up the fin leg glance catch.

Also used to get the 4 bins we had out and bowler could place them wherever they wanted as fielders, ont he full and its out.

Used to mow the pitch super short to give the rolled/burnt look, Dad want happy when he got home from work.

We always played house/fence on the full is out.

One hand/one bounce and tippy-go were optional, largely depending on if we were playing a test or limited overs.

And a bit like indoor cricket, sections of the fence were worth runs.

Side fences were 1s and 2s, back fence 4 and the fence poles 6.

Plus runs ran between the wickets...

when i played as a kid with my brother, any fence was four. the problem was, back then i had a wicked cut shot (as wicked as it gets for a ten year old) to a fence five metres away. bang, bang, bang, I had a backyard 300! :D
