Pets & their worth to you ?

Postby bayman » Wed Sep 21, 2011 8:30 pm

our cat got into a fight (i presume with another cat) on sunday night & lost some of his nose & his left ear was definately chewed & bloodied, he seemed ok to me happy to eat, happy to walk over to the park (he thought he was a dog i reckon) when i took littlebayman out for a kick or a hit etc, which we did for a little while on monday, well this lady obviously with good thoughts says to lb yesterday while i was at work, ''that cat doesn't look right i'm ringing the rspca & they can pick him up'' which they did they said ''his nose could get infected so we'll take him & put him to sleep'' while i understand the lady was thinking of the cat i would have thought i would at least get a call back with a proper diagnosis from one of their vets before any decision was made....anyway it's too late now & we're both a little emotional atm as we are fond of animals........................................so how much does your pet(s) mean to you ?

RIP DESI :( :(

If that was my pet there would be all sorts of hell breaking loose. What gave the sticky beak broad the right to basically choose what happens to little baymans cat....

Sue the bitch for emotional damages!

nope that's what happened, lb wants to follow the lady who walks her pusher around the side streets, see where she lives & throw a brick through her window, i've told him while i understand that we're not doing it because it isn't the right thing to do, i told him i'll speak to her (i think i know who it is but he'll have to point her out to me first to make sure i do talk to the right person) & see what she says for herself

The RSPCA aren't vets as such even though vets would be there most of the time. Surely the lady would have known that. What I mean is that this cat was going off for a one way drive when the RSPCA picked him up. The RSPCA and the Animal Welfare League to a great job but one thing they don't dilly dally about is hanging onto animals they know they won't be able to re-home quickly. It's a shelter for animals whose owners have abandoned them.

I wonder if she was clear to them that this cat was someone's pet? Surely if they knew that they would have said it was up to the bayman household to decide if the cat should go to a vet.

I'd like to hear the lady's version of events.

Bayman, I feel for you and little bayman. That's sad.

Surely the point would be to raise awareness of what can happen...even if the women believed she acted with good intentions and had the cat's welfare in mind...and to try and prevent another child having to go through the upset that little bayman obviously has. As well as informing people of what they should do in smilar circumstances.

Condolences to you & little BM.

Sounds like a misunderstanding to me. All the same I'd make sure that the do-gooder lady gets to see little BM in tears. Let her see the results of her actions. Reckon I'd have a few terse words to say to Dr. Death at RSPCA as well.

Me, I was howling like a little girl when our budgie fell off his perch a year and a half ago :(

His predecessor escaped from his cage and flew away. :(

And her predecessor got taken to the vet to have a lump removed. A bit later in the day Mrs Pseudo had to return to the vet to pick up his corpse. More howling like little girls.

Did the cat ever go outside of your property?
When it went for a walk to the park did you have a leash on it?
Were you home when it was involved in its fight?

Did you consider veterinary aid for the pussy before all of this unfolded?

I reckon the lady either thought the cat was a stray cat that little Bayman played with sometimes or told the RSPCA that it was a stray.

Wedgie's point is worth thinking about for any cat owners out there. If your cat roams around the neighbourhood too much you can leave yourself open to other people taking matters into their own hands. My late grandfather poisoned the neighbour's cat because it kept pissing on his car. I bet that has happenned 1000s of times.

I don't know if this happened in bayman's case but just in general. Mrs Hondo's last cat should never have been allowed outside at night but he was so damned loud and annoying about wanting to go out that we relented. Eventually one night he never came home. We take that as our fault.

My lab puppy got into my shed yesterday and ripped all the cords out of the back of my beer fridge.

In a completely unrelated topic, I have a lab puppy for sale...

Getting a new (replacement) Burmese kitten on the weekend. Last one went out on Saturday night back in March and we found his corpse five days later in the dog kennel of all places. Theory is he was bitten by a snake. The new model will be confined to barracks inside as much as is possible.
I feel terribly sorry for Bayman and little Bayman. A pox on the interfering neighbour and on the vet.
