i'd suggest that for anyone having to drive should not drive alone, take someone with you just in case there is a serial killer out there, it can't be aliens as i don't believe in them

Simple, do not stop for anyone, stop at the next town and advise some authorities that there's someone stranded. Could've been Mick Taylor.

Maybe these people are driving along one of the world's most isolated roads for a reason, they may not want to be found.

Have done the Ayers Rock to Adelaide trip along there many times (as a family).
Even had 'cat naps' on the side of the road - as with small kids we often travelled at night.
Never had any trouble (Thankfully).
The scariest thing is the cattle that stand in the middle of the road-
Or driving over the grids that scare the crap out of you if you do happen to be asleep (not driving - as the passenger)....lol.
But I can say though - it is a very long and deserted road - can easily see how people can 'disappear' or meet with 'foul play' so to speak.

Sadly, it appears, although yet to be confirmed, that Jason Richards' body has been found.
