Hello, long time reader, 5062nd time poster.

just curious, with gribbles how long does it take for a blood test to make it from gribbles to your dr?

IIRC, my doctor got back to me within a couple of days.

Or maybe that was for the stool sample...

My Daughter had blood tests a few weeks ago and they said would only take a couple of days, but to make an appointment with the doctor for a week later for results - Therefore - I'd suggest they take from a few days to a week at the maxium.

my drs appoint is for thursday 12.50.
i went to have blood tests monday got there then realised it was a fasting test so went back to work.
then was gonna go this morning but i have a meeting at 9am.
looks like ill be going tomorrow morning then changing my drs appointment

I think a fasting test would take a couple of days.
When i was having tests for my INR, the results were back that afternoon

Having a non fasting test next month, just need to have my blood taken the day before my appointment.

It actually depends on the type of test.
The machinery is already set up to analyse samples for common tests, and those usually required urgently, so they get run quickly.
Unusual tests, if not urgently needed, may wait until they have sufficient samples ready to set up for.

If I get one early in the day my doc has it in the arvo, if I get it late in the day early the next day.
Arent they Healthscope now?
I have to get one every fortnight because I'm on Warfarin, looking forward to a new tablet being approved later in the year that will stop this inconvenience.
I've had a few different people take my tests and they're fantastic compared to the butchers, whoops I mean nurses in hospitals!

Yeah they are called Healthscope now.

I'm so glad i'm over the at times weekly blood tests. I was on Warfarin for at least 6 months.

I guess taking tablets is better than have 2 injections a day and having a bruised guts

haha, Gribbles. That name always cracked me up for some reason. I don't know why but I associate 'Gribbles' with 'boogers'.

I have atleast 4. And then the 6 or so pricks on end of fingers to.

Warfarin is an anticoagulant - please sexcuse spelling mistakes i'm abit drunk - it acts on the liver, reducing the quantity of certain proteins that c;ause blood to clot. I think. i am not a dcototr. But I reckon I know what it is because I think my old man wsa on it when he had deep vein thrombosis, or maybe uit was when he had an operation or something.

Yeah Warfarin basically thins your blood and when you're taking it you have to be constantly tested to make sure the thinness of your blood stays in a certain range. This test is called an INR test.
Warfarin is prescribed to people with heart failure/disease/conditions to lessen the chance of a stroke or heart attack.

Only good part about the INR tests is you don't have to fast so can get them done later in the day when they're less busy.

Gribble was the surname of the original founder of the company. He had been a senior Haematologist at the IMVS before that.
