Fantastic to read all the KPI's and STATS that say Australia is in boom times !!!!! What a relief to know that the mining industry is going gang-busters and because of this The Reserve Bank has to raise interest rates at its next meeting. I am so grateful that this great country has professors of economics to make decisions to benefit all Australians. Personally I can't wait for the interest rate hike to kick in so I don't have to worry where I am going to spend that spare $200 a month I currently have. And the little workshop 2 doors down the road ,hopefully will go broke, finally, and we wont have to put up with the noise from their compressor. Oh and I will get to see more of my daughter when the little restaurant she works at part-time shuts it's doors.
Anyone out their interested in 2004 Ford station wagon? I don't reckon we will need it in about 4 months.

yep, I'll give you $500 for it.
I know what you mean, I have been in the real estate industry for over 20 years & I have NEVER seen it this bad! Building applications are down over 50% on this time last year. I normally sell about 30 blocks per month, am now selling that many per annum! South Australia is a mess, there is no mining boom & I don't know when there will be, even then, how is it going to benefit most people? The cost of living will go through the roof, you won't be able to get a tradie at all, they'll either all be up in the mining region, or due to the shortage back in Adelaide, they will be charging a fortune! I have been to WA a few times recently & met with Matthew Birney, ex leader of the opposition, trust me, any mining boom isn't going to be the great saviour of mankind.

Good to see that at least one other person see's the joke that is being played on us. Mining Boom? Yeah for about 170,000 directly and indirectly employed and the share holders. The rest of the economy is ROOTED to put it kindly, But wait, Glen Stevens and The Reserve Bank board know best.
As for tradies Centurion, I am one and I know plenty of them, and I can assure you that there is no inflation problems at the moment it is more like deflation. Rates are being cut and tradies are cutting margins to the bone to just keep working. Funny that this FACT doesn't make it to the eagle eyed Glen Steven.
We"ll all be ROOOONED!!!!!!

Lots of Tradies are doing plenty of quoting and winning few jobs at present. Sales figures for new cars have plummeted as people are hanging onto what they have got and waiting to see what happens next, think the Carbon tax along with all the other taxes and charges already raised in SA has spooked a large part of the population.

As a sole tradie (one man show)...work has really slowed down alot. Not getting a heap of quotes at present and with our 1st child (8 month old daughter) I am a bit worried about keeping the household "cash flow" coming through.
Alot of my work comes from Real estate which has basically stopped as people now dont want to spend their dollars $$$.....people are holding on to them.
I have had to "drum" up some work so will see what happens in a few months. I have always been busy especially with the end of financial year but this year has been very average,
People have just lost confindence and dont know what the hell is going on with the economy at present.
I know Im not the only tradie who is in the same situtaion as me.
