Another Tax

Postby Dog_ger » Sun Feb 27, 2011 9:07 am

Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he's fed.

Tax his work,
Tax his pay,
He works for peanuts
Anyway!

Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he
Tries to think..

Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his ass.

Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won't be done
Till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers;
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He's good and sore.

Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he's laid.

When he's gone,
Do not relax,
It's time to apply
The inheritance tax.

As you say, we don't know much about this tax, so how can we start presuming it will have a negative impact?

The mining tax was going to close down the industry with massive job losses. The miners are now making huge profits and laughing that they were able to hoodwink so many people.

Let's wait for it to become law and then judge.

We don't know much about this tax, yet you want it to become law?

What say the declare that all funds raised will indeed be used for reducing carbon emissions, and not just thrown into the general revenue pool.

I have doubts they have honourably intentions to use this money for what they're taxing for.

You're entitled to have doubts.

That's just an opinion, like me.

I've only said wait and see what they propose.

One thing I know redandblack is any new tax on manufacturing, transport, mining, services etc is passed straight onto the consumer. Thats a negative in my books.

2 new taxes in 6 months? FFS

Been a Labour voter all my life, but I've had enough. Might even vote for Abbott next time.

"Millions win in carbon tax plan: Labor"

LABOR is preparing a multibillion-dollar carbon tax compensation package that could leave up to 2.6 million low-income households better off and a further 1.7 million middle-income households no worse off.

It is believed that the spending, funded out of revenue raised by the new tax, is likely to be delivered using a combination of tax and welfare measures, including lifting tax concessions for low-income earners and targeting tax cuts to help families on middle incomes.

A senior government source said Labor had failed to sell the compensation package offered under Kevin Rudd's defunct emissions trading scheme and was determined not to make the same mistake this time.

''It wasn't well understood last time that a lot of punters wouldn't have been worse off and heaps of them would have actually been better off,'' the source said.

''[This time] we will put a lot of effort into selling the assistance package because it can help counter Abbott's dishonest cost-of-living scare campaign.''

You are kidding?

I haven't said it would become law (even though I think it will).

I said wait for it to become law and then judge.

That means wait to see what happens.

Meanwhile, top points for pedantry ;)

So you're happy for someone to pass something, without first having a look at it and deciding whether it would be worth rejecting...

SJABC, you'll be pleased that I'm lost for words.

How on earth do you reach those conclusions from such a non-confronting statement?

My humble apologies for not wording it to your satisfaction.

Go back and read it in the context it was meant.

If you could throw some of these in to show what context it's meant to be read in then feel free;

:o3 (~~) :ymalien: :@)

Until then stop being so condescending as soon as someone slightly disagrees with you.

If you can't understans the context of 'wait and see', I'm not sure how else I can explain it.

If there's anything condescending in my replies, you might see some degree of aggression in yours.

I'm no big city lawyer, but I think it will be a battle to get through. I'm guessing Bob Katter won't be voting for it.
