Its pretty basic...don't plaigiarise anyone elses work, dont pass off a photo/article/logo design/slogan/etc as yours when you have copied it from somewhere.
If you want to use it either get permission from the owner/author/corporation or fully attribute it so there can be no question you are not trying to claim ownership. A lawyer will explain this in 500-words and stiff you for $500.

I have a golfing friend whose wife is one of those arty farty crafty types. So she has a state-of-art crochet machine and from a digital photo can duplicate exactly all the important apparrel logos. Every week this guy rocks up with a new Titleist shirt, Ralph Lauren slacks etc. He buys the blanks (shirts, caps, slacks) at some wholesaler in Drummoyne in Sydney and just blazes away.
