With my 18th coming up very soon, im just wondering what everyone did for there 18th or 21st or any milestone birthday or event, im just after some ideas on what to do and it would be interesting to see what you all did.
I haven't got anything planned yet, so any ideas or anything you have to say would be helpful!!
cheers.

Media Park:
18th: Saturday 23 July 2005... Played two games of footy, ate nothing all day... About twenty beers in at the footy club I was throwing my ring up...
Advice: Eat first... Eating isn't cheating...
21st: Monday 21st July 2008 through to Friday 25th July 2008... Week off work, five big days... Day one with two of my best mates- heck of a lotta beer drunk.
Day two at a pub from opening until closing.
Day three dinner with the parents, ended up singing karaoke with Dad (karaoke one of the two things repsonsible for me having a kid).
Day four invited to a training night from work- ended up grabbing the mike (pissed as a newt) and serenading my ex-employer with Kenny Rogers "The Gambler."
Day five... PLANNED a big event... a venue, nice spread of food and booze, big plans for me and all my close friends... NO-ONE rocked up.
Advice: Five days too long for a bender, Don't sing karaoke, avoid microphones, and don't make HUGE plans...
Pretty safe to say my big one's were failures, and unless I get married, I won't be adding to this until my 40th!

Didn't really do an 18th was around the year 12 Grad time, plenty of opportunity to celebrate it.
for the 21st I actually went to a mates 21st who was few weeks older than me then we went from pub to pub and I don't recall much else...

Didn't really do anything for any milestone birthdays. I've never really been a "party" person, and I couldn't think of anything else to do. Maybe I'll try and do something for my 40th in September 2014.
We're just having a small party for close friends for my husband's 50th in September this year.

Firstly, I must say that I am surprised that you are not yet 18 but have nearly 7000 posts on the forum.
My 18th was at home with about 50 mates. We destroyed my dad's liquor cabinet, but he was ok as he knew where we were & was safe.
My advice to you, as I have worked in the Booze industry for over 20 years now is either:
a. Do something with your closest mates, golf, cricket, beach during day then party at home where you can be safe from all the fruitcakes out there looking for trouble.
b. Go to a local pub. Tell them it's your 18th. Let them know what to expect & that you will have older people attending. If you are honest with them, most publicans will treat you well and watch out for you.
I also agree with Media Park: EAT FIRST

Being the oldest of my school mates my 18th involved alot of fake IDs and Shennanigans.
Can't remember much at all.
My 21st was at the footy club, lots of cheap grog and platters then onto city for the usual.
Hearts On Fire... 6000+ posts and not 18 yet what a great effort. well done.
PS EAT EAt EAT

18th: Was still at school, just had some of the close mates around, ended up being about 30-40 people. Brothers mates got me a stripper. Just got blind and had to front for footy the next morning!
21st: Had it at the footy club, was a dress up, just put on heap of beers and wine/ champagne and got a jukebox for the night. Was a ripper of the night from what I can remember. Probs would have been about 100+ people there!
Definately do something, Id recommend something bigger for ya 21st, only cause 18ths while ya at school if ya mate it a decent party, alot of the time will egt crashed by people you dont want there. Thats why I had something small, while by 21, you have a good idea of who ya mates are and dont have random people from school and the like rocking upto your party.
Good luck with it anyway mate!

18th - party at home and got trashed.
21st - My old dear said I could have a big party or she would pay for me and my missus to go to Cairns for two weeks. Ended up taking the Cairns option and spent two weeks there drinking piss sitting around the pool.

I had my 18th at home. My 18th was a 'party' where i invited my friends... but my parents invited alot of our family friends who'd had been a part of my life. It wasn't an overly huge night... which made it more memorable in my opinion. My mum falling over the pagola railing while trying to put up tarpolans was probably the most memorable

My 21st is in april

... it's actually the night of the first round of SAAFL games. So a warning to whoever is playing Salisbury that day, do not injure anyone i have invited or you will have myself to deal with

haha.
This time i'm having it at a venue in the city, and I have about 160 people invited. Soooo i'm assuming it will be a big night... well i'm having a big night, i'm not sure about anyone else, lol.

What did you decide?
Did you go with my suggestion?

It was a Thursday.
I went to school as usual, and skipped through my homework as fast as I could [as usual].

How far did you have to walk and was it snowing?

No to both.
I had a bike, a 27" semi-racer with [then state of the art] 3-speed gears, and the climate was not much different from now.

PS: I only ever had one birthday party - my 13th - I always refused to have another one.
["Just give me the money!" was my line when my mother pushed the idea.]

I think it's almost not possible to do the 'at home' thing anymore for fear of gate crashers..
With mine:
18th - BBQ at home/mums - with family and friends.
Was a great night - music/drinking/casual/party etc etc.
However - knock at the door just after midnight saw the 2 local policemen standing there saying we had to turn the music down...lol.
21st - At home with family and friends - music/party.
By then was living with now husband and had a 5 month old baby.
(to be) Husband threw me a surprise 21st - it was great-
However (to be) husband got 'smashed' and was 'out of it' for 2 days - hungover so badly that he couldn't even get out of bed.
Me sober as a judge - had a baby to look after....lol
Since he wrote himself off and I didn't for
MY 21st - he felt very, very bad for many years to come - and I 'played' that card when I needed to for just as long
40th:Didn't 'want one' was quite content to spend an evening out for dinner with my mum, hubby and kids

18th- Party at home with about 60-70ppl, got blind drunk and went to town after, cant remember much past the first club in town.
21st- Had a joint party with my best mate at the arkaba, put some coin on the bar and had a meal with the family followed by drinks with mates. Turned out a great night, and one i can remember.
Advice: eat before you drink. Make sure you can remember the night! (especially your 21st)

18th: Didn't want a party and was crook as a dog anyway, struggled to get through a game of footy on the Saturday, went back to the club in trackies and thongs ready to take off back to bed straight after presos and myself and my best mate (three days apart) had a joint suprise-18th thrown for us. Had one drink, couldn't do anymore, spent half the night vomiting from illness and was home by 11.30.
21st: Had a show for about 100 at the Seven Stars Hotel on Angas St. Dinner with family beforehand, all the mates got there about 8. Booked a hotel room in town for the night, which was a good call after falling down the stairs blind drunk at the Elephant and not remembering where I ended up after that.

Nup - not a party girl anymore MT79...lol - so doubt I'll even have a 50th either.
And when you have 3 kids all reaching/passing the 18th - 21st marks themselves - that's enough for me
