LIV is 18 holes? The game itself hasn't been compromised. The holes aren't shorter. The balls and clubs are the same.

How do you see it as so?

Only difference is 54 holes vs 72 right? Plus team aspect.

For the players yes. They seem to be able to block out the background noise of noisy crowds and loud music.

Players have a choice as do the fans. Not sure why people get upset about this.

I haven't seen anyone upset. I couldn't think of anything worse hating golf and crowds but think it's great for the state and hope it continues. Something like 40% of tickets sold were to people out of the state which is awesome.
Great for the state and makes a lot of people happy, win, win.

Remembering that in the 72 hole tournaments half the field only play 36 holes.

Only issue I have with LIV is it is all over too quickly (just over 4 hours)

Would hate to play the party hole after someone has aced it. The green would be soaked & sticky

The concept of Liv Golf is great (except the music), has been a great success so far, and awesome that the only one in Aus is here, but … without the backing of the Saudis it would be a massive financial loss.

I get that it’s part of the Saudi’s marketing (propaganda is probably too strong) strategy, but how is spending a couple of gazzilion dollars each year (admittedly they can afford it without blinking) going to help them? The golf fans will just love the events for what they are, the players are too busy counting their money, the event holders reap great rewards, and then everyone else will complain that it’s either immoral, unethical or demonise anyone associated with it.

I’m quite dumb so please explain to me how the Saudi’s gain any more credibility, worldwide acceptance, etc, etc in the global community for the money they spend on the comp?

TIA. :YMPEACE:

Amusing that the non-LIV players complained about the peace treaty because they didn't get money
But, its all about the game

They are going to force a merger with the PGA and have some control over the whole golfing landscape. The move of Jon Rahm was the tipping point in their favour, they will keep bringing over players until it happens.

While they have unlimited funds they are also smart business people, they have an end game, otherwise they wouldn't be doing it.
