Looking to buy a GPS that I can use here in Australia and take to the UK with us when we go in July.
Any suggestions on which is the best to buy?

I've never had one, but on the medical forums the general practitioners who use them swear by Tom Toms for accuracy and reliability.

If you have an iPhone or similar what about using an app instead.

Might work out a lot cheaper especially if you'd have to buy extra map packs. Looking at the ones on sale here none of them seem to have global maps available...just UK or Europe or occasionally North America and all have to be purchased seperately by the looks of it.

Most of the sat-nav companies seem to have mobile apps and from what I've seen here on gadget shows you can also get kits to fit it to your car dash like a normal sat-nav.

Nokia offer free maps on their GPS phones, it works a treat on mine. If you're in line for a phone upgrade then that may sort you out.

Thanks guys.

Didn't really want to use the phone as a gps.
Have purchased a Tom Tom Go1050 World, it has maps of Australia, NZ, US, Europe, UK and Ireland loaded on it.

the only major supplier we don't source at work is Garmin, but I've found from customer feedback that Uniden is the most reliable.

IGO 43 or IGO 50 are the models, 4.3 and 5.0 inch screens being the difference, and they just seem to be easier for everyone...

I wouldn't know personally, I've never driven a car in my life, but they just get such great feedback...
