Being Christmas time, which is the shopping mall you least like to shop at? What influences your decision - choice of shops, cleanliness, car parking, transients etc?

You forgot Rundle Mall

Hi MW, not really, Rundle Mall is not really a covered mall, or owned by a single entity like Centro or Westfield or so on, so the comparision becomes a bit vague as opposed to the others on a more level playing field!

I'd vote Parabanks but it isn't there!

they all have there negatives

marion - too busy and finding a park is a prick
colonades - the people that frequent there make it a bad place
arndale - no good shops and have a dirty feel to it

I choose colonades though, closely followed by arndale

Out of this list I picked Arndale. When Westfields ran it I used to dub it 'the forgotten Westfield' because while Marion and Tea Tree Plaza were getting their big upgrades, Arndale was pretty much left to rot before they offloaded it to Centro, resulting in that dirty feel Iron Fist referred to. I don't think anything (and that includes the shops there) has been touched there in about 25 years!

Outside of this list, I'd rate Hollywood Plaza as the worst shopping mall. It's not the best design (getting to Woolies unless it's after hours is a day trip in itself), and I call it 'Moron Plaza' because of the idiots that shop there.

Parabanks isn't that far behind because of it's poor variety of shops and it's prick of a location.

Arndale ...easy!!!

The amount of seedy characters and crime at that place is just "mind blowing".

It was like that twenty years ago ha ha. As a visitor to Adelaide I can't believe that South Road from the Brickworks up to Torrens Road, Croydon, Kilkenny looks just the same as it did decades ago. A real shoddy part of town.

Arndale is hideous

But I've just come back from my once annual shopping spree in Rundle mall where I witnessed a not-all-there feral try to assault the staff in Myer Centre Toyworld for not returning an item. When his attempts at punching the ladies across the counter failed he then pushed all of the merchandise on the counter onto the floor where it smashed and then kicked over a huge gumball machine before running (limping) off. Security brought him back and he was still having a go. Actually very scary - and another good advert (along with my $18 parking fee) for shopping online!

colonades def the worst. need eyes in the back of your head anytime of the year down there. was at the commonwealth bank atm facing the carpark and had a mate watching my back whilst getting my cash and still had a feral come up and ask for money

Munno Para is the worst, because it has the highest proportion of trolls. The last time I was there I got stuck behind a large woman wearing a leopard-print bra with a backless, transparent pale-blue top, clinging to the arm of a bloke in a Slipknot T-shirt who had, at a charitable guess, taken his last shower probably around six months previously.

West Lakes.

I will probably never shop there again.

Sounds like a couple of the emails i've seen of some of the people who shop at one of the American supermarkets.

Of the ones I've been to, Arndale. It's just trash. I was in there a few weeks ago trying to buy some clothes in Big W and it looked like a bomb had hit the joint. Piles of clothes lying around everywhere and absolutely clueless staff. About 3 of the 4 items on special in the current catalogue couldn't be found by the chick "helping" me to the point she went and got a superior who was seemingly as clueless as she was. I then went over to the DVD section and asked some disinterested woman at the counter if they still had any copies of a DVD on sale I was after and she just said she didn't know and walked off. To top it off afterwards I went to get a coffee from the new Muzz Buzz drive-thru there which hadn't even opened yet despite being advertised as open for business in the previous week's Messenger newspaper. I've also lost count of the amount of times I've heard of cars being broken into or stolen from the carparks at Arndale too.

Really they need to level the joint and start again when it comes to Arndale. West Lakes despite all the yuppies is a much better shopping centre.

Arndale is a shithole.

The Port Mall is a beauty...watch out for the "Piss" Lady

Arndale for me - the rest I find to be OK.
