There was a little yappy dog that lived across the road from our old place - it used to bark a bit, but our cat went and jumped on its back and tried to ride it around, and the poor dog only had three legs so it collapsed. It was quite subdued after that, we hardly ever saw it!
Hey Goose, ya big stud! Take me to bed or lose me for ever.

My dog a Weimaraner has only "barked" once that I have heard and me and the missus almost fell over when she did

I have a yapper over the back fence which just yaps constantly

I was out the back last night and it sounded like they have a new puppy as well, hopefully that makes the other one stop

Not always the case....lol

The last house we lived in the dog next door hardly ever barked - even though he was alone during the day while his owners were at work.
However...
When the owners were going to be away on a weekend they would 'import' in another dog to keep their dog company - WELL - both dogs barked consistantly for the whole weekend !!
It was like barking competition - lets see who can bark the most - unbearable - %-( and we're talking 'villas' so only centimeters apart between neighbours!
We could always tell when they were away for the Saturday/Saturday night/Sunday.

But we never said anything because 99% of the time he was fine.

Remember big dogs back less because they don't need to.
When I lived in Mt Dandenong a neighbour's Rotty used to slink away quietly when I walked my 90 Kg Wolfhound past on the lead.

The Rotty had tried growling at him the first time we went past.
It found that just attracted his attention so he wandered closer, tail wagging, to look at the Rotty which retreated.
Apparently it didn't believe the wagging tail.

Update,things is warming up!

Had a visit from the Police last night.Seems the dog owner took offence to me telling his dog to shut up and throwing an apple at the back fence. He called the cops.
Not sure what he was hoping for but when they told me they were here about the dog,I asked if they could shoot it.
The Policewoman confirmed that I was unlikely to be breaking any laws in throwing fruit or even smallish vegetables around in my own back yard.
They also confirmed they had sat out the front of my place for 10 minutes before coming in and that the dog barked the entire time they were out there.
The Coppers were ok and seemed sympathetic to my side of the story, this after they had visited him and heard his.
The lady Cop asked me why I threw the apple. I told her I wasn't sure but that I was not regretful as I only knew him as "Jonathan" and had picked him up in Foodland only that afternoon so I had no great attachment. She looked at me funny.

I heard about that on the radio news this morning, it certainly is interesting and quite a radical change in the way councils deal with barking dogs.

I'm sure Kahuna will be happy if these proposed changes come into force :)

Should "destroy" the owners, not the dogs ;)

Thought this was a thread on Central Districts ;)

Taught my DECEASED GREAT DOG 2 commands.

1. NO.

2. SIT.

When he barked i said #1

Then I said #2.

He stayed there for hours.

My Chihuahua protected me from my enemies.
