In my experiences SGIC and Allianz are generally reasonably priced, got a quote from FC's mob once and well...... let's just leave it at that.

All my insurances ( due to my classic car ) is all with Shannons and I cant fault any of their service.

I also have an investment property with landlords insurance with them and once again ,cant fault them.

I have a theory that car and home insurance providers offer hidden sign on discounts that then disappear in years 2 and 3. Every time I "shop around" for home or car insurance I find someone with a fair bit cheaper quote. So I think great, I've done well. Then in year 3 of the next policy I get a big increase prompting another shop around and so the cycle goes.

My only advice is to don't just base the decision on price. I am with a company that Footy Chick would be happy about for my home insurance and I was able to recently claim on damage to a laptop because I looked into the optional extras and added accidental damage. So read the policies of anyone you are looking at if you can or at least compare the main features they advertise.

Sometimes a cheaper quote has a higher excess or an exclusion that you may want.

I'm with RAA , had my first ever claim 2 months ago and found them very hospitable. Also let you choose repairer of your choice provided they are RAA approved. Others won't neccesarilly let you do this.

Shop around, I got four quotes differing from 0% - 30%

Be aware of excesses , age of drivers, garaging, market value or agreed value.

You can actually choose any repairer you want, they don't have to be RAA approved. However, if you do choose an RAA approved repairer, your repairs are guaranteed for life.

I'm with RAA. Had no problems with them. Then again, haven't had to make a claim, so that's probably why

I am with AAMI.

Comprehensive Car Insurance and Home & Contents.

Never used my Car Insurance.

But my home was robbed about 3 years ago and everything electronic was stolen,

Except my TV, that was all unplugged and ready to go.

Maybe they were coming back?

Maybe the Van that drove down the street when I was home was just coincidence..?

They Rubber stamped everything. I had kept all reciepts and even had photo's of everything.

Everything was replaced with new technology without question.

Well over 7 Grand.

I have been obliged to stay with AAMI ever since.

Hooray for AAMI. They saved my Butt.

Removed all hedges from my front garden.

I installed the latest remote control wireless burgular alarm, had all window and entrance/exit doors deadlocked immediately.

The insurance assessor was very impressed.
