I've eaten my fair share of donuts in my time but I'm tiring of people crapping on about Krispy Kreme donuts. I bought two dozen last year of varying flavours and thought: these aren't worth the fuss.
I want to know the best donut you've ever eaten and from where. Coz I'm sure Krispy Kreme isn't the be all and end all of the donut world.

A good fluffy cinnamon doughnut, like the ones from Prices Bakery, are about the best, reakon.

Hooray! Someone that doesnt follow the crowd. Krispy Kreme donuts are so over rated it kills me hearing people saying how good they are. They are honestly the only donuts i really dont like. Terrible donuts.
As for the best donuts, i have no ******* idea lol

Yeah. The suggestions of getting the freshest specimens seems the way to go in general. Krispy Kreme did not deliver what I thought it would. Wendys make good donuts though. I rate them highly

Sounds like I'm going to make half this forum sick saying this...
...but I think Krispy Kremes are the best. Their glazed doughnuts are my favourites, especially when they're hot. There's that Dreamy Doughnut place at the airport (and will be opening at Elizabeth soon) which is basically an Australian equivalent of Krispy Kremes. They're alright, but nothing compares to Krispy Kremes.

Well obviously there are much better comparisons - You don't see Donut King going into recievership do you?
There used to be (still is?) a really nice donut shop on Waymouth Street, it was just a little corner shop but they had all sorts of nice flavours..That was our staple friday office supply when I worked at Telstra.. is it still there?

Krispy cremes are good but some people go over the top with it.

Doughnut Delirium that was, when I used to work for the council they always used to be a staple for peoples birthdays etc.
They were very tasty.

Donuts you can pick up from Foodland for $2 are pretty good. Won't find anything better at that price. Nice and fresh if you get there in the morning as well!

You are all making me crave a donut

Never had Krispy Kremes
On the cheap store donuts-
I buy the sugared ones and then put them in the oven with a little extra sugar on top-
They go crunchy on the outside and still soft in the middle-
Make a very yummy/cheap dessert
(Fattening but!)

Krispy Kremes are shit. Its quite funny watching people bringing back 2-4 dozen donuts on the planes from Melbourne and Sydney and looking after them as if they are so precious.
The best donuts I think are from Pop Kiplings bakehouse at Pt. Wakefield.
Another good one, as droppy said is the IGA branded donuts that come in a box of 4. They are seriously amaizing.

They are good BC, I've hit that van up at the Loxton show a few times over the years.

OK, there are one batch of doughnuts that top Krispy Kremes.
The Lions club van that has a set up at Lobethal during the Lobethal Lights. To quote Homer Simpson, now 'that's a nice a doughnut'
