Okay,

So my wife is going through our holiday photos at the moment and has come across this one taken in St Pauls @ the Vatican.

WTF is that bright silhouette?? :shock:

Seriously - it's kinda spooked me a bit......

Yep, that's freaky, it's like the light is beaming down and covering one particular person. If you look at the posture closely enough, you'd almost swear it was Pope John Paul! :shock:

I've also got a freaky photo, which I'll post when I get home. It was taken on a ghost tour in Launceston. I've been told by several people that it's an aura.

Wow, that's amazing. Can you remember anyone standing in that postion when you took the photo Ginger? The figure looks like it could be an angel, a saint or a women in white.

I printed out a copy and it kinda looks like the figure is carring a bag, so I reckon it could just someone walking through the sunlight.

Still weird that it's so bright though, I wouldn't think a person would reflect light like that.

Might have to send this pic to the pope! :lol:

All magical fantasies aside, it is clearly a person standing in the circular patch of full sunlight visible on the floor, under the dome with its multiple windows, and thus very over exposed in the camera. Note that the people immediately at the back of the circular patch of sunlight on the floor are also over exposed, but less dramatically so.
The camera has taken its exposure reading from the less well lit background.

No, that's because there are no airborne particles to be highlighted and reflect the sunlight, isn't that right Psyb?

Yes, spot on Booney.
But the multiple windows in the dome and the circular patch of light reflecting off the floor are clearly visible.

I actually have a photo taken in that spot, with similar, but not as dramatic, effect.

A small part of the cathedral is bathed in light from above which gives the effect.
