Battery later

Getting him back on Monday to get the ball rolling.

Price?

I’m looking at same size but haven’t decided on brand.
The more I read about the different brands the less inclined I am to decide.
Doing my head in.

$9500, they have a $7500 and $6500 plan with lesser panels / inverter.

Smart Energy, they do a finance / payment option, looking at stumping up $4500 up front, finance $5000 over 4 years.

Estimated bill coming down from $700-800 per 1/4 to $150-200 so around $500 per qtr saving = $2000 per year

Interest is 5% per payment, ie if you do X amount of X years = $230 per month you pay $11.50 interest. Can pay off / out at any time.

Agreed, the more I look around the more I get confused so we're jumping in.

So yep, we just dived in..... eventually.

The more you read, the more confusing it gets, which is probably why it took so long...

I’ve found some of the solar salesman either have no idea or they are just out and out crooks.
More lies than a used car salesman!

Yep. Every man and their dog was doing solar sales a few years back.
We just went through a local guy who also did other electrical work through the house.

I read somewhere recently that for every 1kw expect to pay $1k.

Yep, thats why we ended up going with someone we know and has done good work with some friends and other people we know around the area.

As we sold some shares and cashed some LSL to pay for our set up I'm going to monitor the savings pretty closely. Will report once we get our first bill which should be soon.

On a average winters day with half sunny/half cloudy we find we are off grid from around 9am to 9/10pm. If full day of cloud cover (yesterday) that reduces to about 7pm, if a fully sunny day (today) we usually go to bed with some battery charge left and it runs out in the small hours of the morning.

I haven't had a bill from my power provider since December - my panels went in on February 7th.
I emailed them to check and they replied that I was all paid up but estimated I may get a bill for about $600 after the winter quarter now that productivity from my panels has come down a bit with the clouds, fog, and shorter days..

Yeah keep us posted.
I’m happy to pay a bit extra to get it done right.
The wife’s working from home indefinitely now even post Covid(whenever that is) so it makes even more sense for us to do it.

Shopped around and found a group I do work with indirectly.

Same set up :

6.6kW
Seraphim Blade 330w panels
Fronius Primo Inverter

Installed for a bit over $5000, goes up tomorrow morning.

The prick above was pocketing the Solar Credits! ( nearly $4000! )

You know how sometimes people come to do work at your house and you think "WTF have I done here?" and on the very rare occasion you greet someone, chat and think "Good, he's ok", well, this morning, *phew* absolute ripper of a lad knew exactly what he needed to do, knew what he was talking about ( ie the 20 amp cable wouldn't carry the voltage over the distance to the meter box without a voltage drop ) was a stickler for being neat ( ie running conduit from the panels to the meter box ) etc.

Fantastic.

Always a relief, guys that did ours noticed a cracked tile on our roof, asked if I had some spares, I pulled them out from under a shelf in our shed and said help yourself, they proceeded to replace the tile and when they had left I had noticed they had put the tiles back in spot that I moved them from, its the little things sometimes.

Still haven't had a bill but their estimate for the one due soon is now down to about $360. 8)

Ours is due in November and predicted to be $96.
Hard to say what the savings are Vs last year as circumstances changed when covid killed the Flower business. However, I'll happily pay $100....

We're 8 weeks ( or best part of ) into our life with solar. Previous bill was $850, projected bill at the moment for the end of November is $162.

You have a battery, yes?

Yep Battery and on the Tesla VPP. For some reason they do monthly bills. Some rough figures I've scribbled down indicate we have paid back 8% of our investment already.

Once I get some time I'm going to do a full analysis.

They eventually sent me the bill for the December to February 7th period. It had gotten lost in the change of meters just before on Feb 7th. They apologised for the mix up and still gave me the discount in my deal because it was their fault.

The actual winter quarter bill came in at $307 compared with $1325 last year.
