The company I work for has its office & factory in Broadmeadows. It's an awful place, I'd never live there. We currently live about 20-25 minutes away (down the ring road) to the east, and acceptable commute by any standards. It's a nice enough area, but it's not Brighton or Kooyong, that's for sure. Property prices here are insane. So you have to live within your means. I'd like to move out a little further to Eltham or Diamond Creek, they have more of an Adelaide Hills feel about them....

The violence you've heard about is concentrated around the western suburbs, but it's essentially everywhere, even the leafy suburbs to be honest. If you don't go looking for trouble, it won't find you.

While the pubs are closed here for now, there are some bloody good ones (and bad ones for that matter) about. There are a 100 Reephams over here LM - take your pick!

Initial searches on real estate have had me looking at Deer Park, Ardeer, Albion and Sunshine.

Screw all those areas, look for homes in Ballarat, Much easier drive and a lot cheaper and nicer to live in.

One of my best mates does the commute into the city and lives in Ballarat but if your office is going to be outer West you may as well live someone nice without the extra traffic (it's all freeway from Ballarat into Melb now)

edit: but if the factorys any closer to town than that, it's probably not going to be an option.

Bacchus Marsh May be an option for LM.

Yeah, that's a major factor in my GC aspirations, our plant up there is 20 mins from the theme parks.

Steer clear of that area if possible.
Seabrook, Point Cook, Hoppers Crossing would all be far better options if within your budget

Cheers, that can be today's exercise.

I'm not fazed about where I live, I grew up in the Bronx and I keep to myself a fair bit, I'll probably start locking doors at night etc though in new surroundings.

Many of us have kids, I'm sure we've all got something or know someone who could help :

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-07-22/ ... SB229TkcD8

A children's charity has called for new pyjamas and other essential items after seeing a spike in children going into emergency foster care in regional South Australia.

Backpacks 4 SA Kids relies on donations to put together emergency resource kits that are given to children who enter into care with nothing more than the clothes on their backs.

For some it is the first time they have ever owned a pair of new pyjamas.

Cheers for sharing that.

The rec centre I'm involved in sees hundreds/thousands of pieces of unclaimed lost property each year. This could be a more worthy cause than what we do at present.

Our past helps shape who we are - but it does not define us.. remember, acknowledge, learn from it, progress. 8)

Also, am I the only person whose disappointed hoverboards don't yet exist, or pizza's that go from bite size to family size in the microwave?

Ex wife dramas.

What rights do I have if I know my ex wife is doing dodgies around her and her defactos income to lessen their amounts for child support purposes.

I've never wanted things with the ex to get messy, but there is also a limit as to how far one can roll over and be the 'nice guy'

Every right. Tell her that you want a private arrangement or you'll be forced to intervene.

Every right I'd say and it's only the kids she's short changing, not you.

A tad under an hour, but still, nice place and I won't have much of a life anyway.
