Im guessing alot of people on here would have watched this the last 2 nights??

what did people think of it??

Personally I didnt think it was good for young kids in the 15-16 age bracket, they are still very easily influenced and having ben say things like "the harder I trained the more drugs I would take and the better I would play"
Saying something like that to a young kid, could quite easily put the idea in there mind that as long as they train hard, taking drugs is ok and that will make them play well.

Another thing, not once did I hear Ben say that he was remorseful for taking drugs. he doesnt regret what he did, only that he got caught.

I watched it. I loved it, and applause to him for having the cajones to say it...

Give they guy a break i say - people like to judge about issues they know nothing about. His battle is ongoing he is a drug addict.

he owes no apologies to anyone a part from people directly affected by his actions, which is no one else's business.

Only if you compare 2 gallons of coffee concentrated down to smoking crack.
A cup of coffee would be fairly similar to putting a couple of unprocessed Coca leaves plucked of the tree into one cheek and sucking them slowly.

Physical dependence Johno, physical dependence. Do you really want to be a slave to the brown bean?

Only watched part 2 (after discovering part 1 had already aired yesterday). Only watched the doco (not the discussion afterwards). Thought it was alright.

I'm probably addicted to caffeine - I go through about four cans of Diet Coke in a day. If I am, I don't care - it's less destructive than any of my other past vices. Diet Coke is my ONLY vice now. :supz:

A post-script to the Ben Cousins saga:
The hypothesis that amphetamine use causes brain damage has been bolstered by an Australian pilot study showing high numbers of brain lesions among amphetamine users. The study could have public health implications and “supports the possibility of amphetamine use being a risk for cognitive decline, and perhaps an increased risk of stroke,” the authors wrote in the MJA.

From a sample of 30 patients presenting to the Royal Perth Hospital emergency department for an “amphetamine-related reason,” the researchers found six of them to have abnormalities on brain MRI scans. Four of the patients had an “unidentified bright object”, three of which were in the frontal lobe. In addition, one patient had cortical atrophy and another had hippocampal oedema and sclerosis.

The researchers said they “arbitrarily” divided the patients into serious and recreational drug users based on the method of use.
Those who injected, snorted or smoked the drugs – considered “serious” users – were more likely to have brain lesions than those who only took the drugs orally.
The researchers concluded that it is unknown whether the UBOs would be associated with long term effects, but their findings did “support the possibility”.

Now the book has come out ...

a taste here http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/afl ... 5953216203

When will this A-Grade tosser just go away and take some responsibility instead of glorifying his gross self importance.

By the way, his dad should receive a medal for what the poor bastard has had to put up with.

=D> =D> Im still trying to understand how he is a hero or so brave for what he has done? Knowingly taking drugs, jeopardising his career, breaking so many club/AFL rules not to mention the LAW, and then making money out of all this?!

I understand the need for drug awareness and teaching kids about the dangers and ramifications etc, but with Cousins and this doco i dont see it.

Not sure if he is a hero but he is certainly brave to have the will and the guts to get through his illness, and to expose his story to the world at large.

If nothing else it has got me reading and thinking about drug addiction and what it means to the individual and their family and friends.

His dad is half the problem. Ben has never heard the word "no" in his life.

My problem with the whole "Drug Addiction" is......What is a Drug?

In my eyes, Alcohol is the worst & Tobacco is 2nd. The biggest social problem & the big killer. Yet they are allowed to be sold and line everyones pockets.

Marijuana is in the exact same ball park as the 2 mentioned above, however because we can't open our eyes. The greens get thrown in with the Coke, Heroin & the rest.
