The hypothesis that amphetamine use causes brain damage has been bolstered by an Australian pilot study showing high numbers of brain lesions among amphetamine users. The study could have public health implications and “supports the possibility of amphetamine use being a risk for cognitive decline, and perhaps an increased risk of stroke,” the authors wrote in the MJA.
From a sample of 30 patients presenting to the Royal Perth Hospital emergency department for an “amphetamine-related reason,” the researchers found six of them to have abnormalities on brain MRI scans. Four of the patients had an “unidentified bright object”, three of which were in the frontal lobe. In addition, one patient had cortical atrophy and another had hippocampal oedema and sclerosis.
The researchers said they “arbitrarily” divided the patients into serious and recreational drug users based on the method of use.
Those who injected, snorted or smoked the drugs – considered “serious” users – were more likely to have brain lesions than those who only took the drugs orally.
The researchers concluded that it is unknown whether the UBOs would be associated with long term effects, but their findings did “support the possibility”.

Im still trying to understand how he is a hero or so brave for what he has done? Knowingly taking drugs, jeopardising his career, breaking so many club/AFL rules not to mention the LAW, and then making money out of all this?!
I understand the need for drug awareness and teaching kids about the dangers and ramifications etc, but with Cousins and this doco i dont see it.
