BIG PHIL INJURED

Just letting any concerned fans of Big Phil know the big man was injured last night playing social basketball. The big fella was just about to put in a monster dunk when his knee gave way under the weight and he went off saying something "popped". The big man still was able to drive all his free loading mates home as he gritted his teeth to courageously continue driving under severe duress. I wish the big man a speedy recovery as im sure the SANFL and SAFOOTY will struggle to survive without him.

Not sure that's a description he will appreciate, but nonetheless! Perhaps 5RPH could cross to him for a live update on Thursday night's League Teams show?

It's pretty bloody sore this morning after staying up until 2.00pm with the old RICE procedure so I'm off to see the physio at midday.
Never done a knee before so not sure how bad it is but as my good friend Beef said, I heard a 'pop' as I landed and the pain is behind the knee on the outside.

Hope you have a speedy recovery BP. However the cloud may have a silver lining if you are chair-bound for a while and have more time to spend on SAFOOTY and the CDFC forum!

Physio said she's not 100% sure it's an ACL (fingers crossed) but still recommended I go so Dr Sando at Wakefield Sports Clinic.
Knee still pretty sore but compression bandage is taking some of the pain away.
Will make appointment this afternoon to go see the Doc...

Does this mean you can be listed as a "test" for media commitments this weekend mate?

Unless I'm in hosptial under the knife mate, I'll just have a jab and 'play' through the pain

I think he is reaching retiring age, or he is currently feeling that old

not a good feeling heading off to medical experts when this happens.
speaking from experience playing footy I thought I was gone for all money in my debut as skipper within the first 5 minutes, I charged to the ball with an opponent and team mate coming the other way. Click/Pop and opponent/team mate fall across my leg. played the game out in the forward pocket but I was useless.
Physio did a test to see if the ACL was intact. survived that test but the medial cartilage was the damage. Had this confirmed a couple of months latter when the lining of the cartilage would not settle down and went in for an MRI.

Booked in for a MRI on Friday morning at Wakefield Sports Clinic, fingers crossed it's good news...
The knee is feeling a little better but is still pretty sore, hopefully it is just a medial strain also...
Even though I have Private Cover (Medibank Private) am I still gonna be up for a bit of coin?

When I last had an MRI it wasn't covered. Cost about $150.
Medial strains and tears are usually due to impact. Sounds like you've done the lateral ligament.
