We had one of those when I was growing up. I remember this happened a few times with our heater as well. Basically we just had to keep bashing the button until the pilot light stayed on - that usually worked in the end, it was just really frustrating - and I think one time we had to get the gas refilled. Sorry I'm not much help.

Haha i had this problem and it took hours of work.
I ended up gutting the heater, cleaning the whole thing a replacing the fan.
The pilot light i just persisted and lit it with full gas (very risky be careful) and held the gas on for 20 secs once lit and good to go.

ditto as per WLF....

We finished up having two replacements for the pilot light etc and then ditched the entire lot when the third time it shizen'd itself. I think we spent about 400 bucks on it, then finished up getting a split system which hasn't missed a beat, and been twenty times warmer. Noted that the wall unit was about 25 years old (so the technician told us).

ok now that we need a new heater, still going to go with a space heater but apparently this needs to have the look of a wood fire according to the boss.

so does anyone recommend a good business that deals in these at a good price or can recommend a reliable brand??

thanking you all again.....

Seek Gas Company service.

Go to your local gas company and ask advice.

They will send a professional out probably the same day.

What price would solve the problem?

$200? aprox.
