The SSO on my class who came back on work cover isn't working for us anymore. At the staff meeting tonight we were told that she'd accepted a retirement package. I sent a message to her congratulating her on her retirement. Her reply "sorry, did not know I was retired yet. I'll see you tomorrow"

That reminds me of a conversation I had with a mate's missus about 10 years ago. He'd told me previously that she was pregnant, and I was really happy for him.

A couple of months later, I caught up with them both for a few frothies. I asked the missus how the pregnancy was coming along, and she told me she'd lost the baby. I felt like a piece of shit.

They're no longer friends with me.
