Has anyone tried one of these things yet? Any good? It says on the pamhplet you get a tuscani pasta, garlic bread, 6 chicken wings with creamy garlic dip and a large deep pan pizza for $24.95 pick up but do they use a bigger box for this? Otherwise surely it's not a rectangular version of a large pizza if it's only taking up half the box?

Pizza Bites at Redwood Park, if you can get the young kids they employ to stop talking & giggling for long enough, they don't put out a bad pizza.

Pizza Hut and Pizza Haven have degenerated Pizzas into the worst kind of cheap, bad fast food so far removed from the original. Once it became a price war the quality dropped off and killed a lot of the family businesses making decent pizzas.

Last time I was at a Pizza Haven outlet I almost felt sick by all the side dishes before I even looked at the cheap chocolate desserts. Pick every type of calorie busting greasy side dish you can think of and it was there. If it can be microwaved in 2 minutes then put it on the menu seems to be the plan.

You get what you pay for I reckon.

So I am not surprised that the Dinner Box is terrible.

If I sound like one of these calorie intake obsessives then you've got me pegged! If you enjoy this kind of food then go for it. It's just not for me.

I gave up the chains back in the 1980s, except in 2003 when I was off colour and had a Domino's delivered - never again.
The best ever pizzas were when Terry Sanso ran "Cafe Sanso" in Hahndorf in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and did gourmet ones.
He also ran a $10 all you can eat pizza night on Thursdays, and made up new variations on the night.
[He also introduced me to pouring Strega over vanilla gelati.]

yes because of OHS issues at the restaurants. ppl where picking up pizza slices and not likeing them and putting them back after handling them, i think from memory they had alot of food poisioning cases from the restaurants. But they had a rat poison scare in the sizzler food chain in queensland recently, but they now have someone on watch the whole time the bar is open so as this sort of issue can not happen. cant understand why they cant just have someone in the pizza hut restaurants on watch like sizzler.

Mamma Marias on tapleys hill road about hendon area.

When I was 18..... Many years ago.

She couldn't close the lid of the Pizza box.

Later she moved to a small shop on Port Road near the woodville school.

Found her by chance one hungry night.

Her Pizzas were top shelf.

Fire bombed a few weeks later. :(

Never seen her since. :(

Giovanni's in Mt Barker do very nice pizza's if you're in the area Psyber. Also a good spot for a lazy brekky on a Saturday morning.

Agree with everone elses thoughts on the chains, quite happy to fork out for a quality product that than a pizza laiden with heavily processed 'meat'.

Have latched on to Pizza on Broadway at Glenelg South. Best I've encountered...

There used the be a great pizza bar on Fullarton Road at Parkside called the Aquila Pizza Bar. This place was sensational...

Agree, except If you would have bought 3 or 4 "large" pizza's from a chain and buy one larger one from a real pizza bar the price gap often isn't as large as people assume.

We are very lucky to have 3 good pizza bars within a short distance:
La Roma (cnr of Henley Bch & Airport Rds),
Joes (Henley Beach Rd) &,
La Pizzeria (In the old Pizza Haven building on Tapleys Hill Rd) who do a great pizza and also cater for the gluten intolerant (and are a very good sponser of the Lockleys FC ;) )

We don't buy pizza from any of the chains, too often been served with crap that was no more appetising than the box it came in.

Great Pizza Bar on the Broadway, you have to try the Pepperoni da focho. Delicious.
