Anyone have any experiences with this town they'd like to share?

Have been offered a job up there and trying to weigh up the pros & cons..........

Don't leave us !
You'd better find out if they have internet first and foremost

Seriously though.
Never been there - but I bet it's a big decision to make D&W.

Is it a 'short term' or 'long term' position you're being offered.

O:)

I assumed the Internet hadn't reached Mt Isa yet?

But if there is, i'd say my place of work would be the first place to be connected.

It's a long term position, but in all honesty couldn't see myself up there for more than 1-2 years.
Just a bit of a kick-start for the career.

The ratio of males to females living in Mount Isa is reputedly five to one. Mayor John Molony drew international press attention in August 2008 when he told the Townsville Bulletin newspaper that Mount Isa's gender imbalance made it a good place for "not so attractive" women to live. However, the most recent census found that men actually comprise only 52.6% of the population and that the five-to-one figure is an exaggeration.

Not as silly as it sounds. I'm sure there's a few towns they you'd rather not drive through.

Often stinking hot up there (near Cloncurry which holds the Aus temperature record I think).

You'd want it to be a bloody good job...
