The following was posted by oldfella on blood'n'tars.com and he has agreed with our request to post it here:

Friends,

Its with great sadness that I must advise that I was contacted tonight and advised that Dash (Darryl) is not with us anymore due to a sudden heart attack on Tuesday and wish to offer my, and all on this site, most sincere condolences to both Leanne, Chris and all his family

I feel many will miss his funny - provocative and zany posts which for many years has given many footy sites great color and lead to interesting discussions with an increased enjoyment for all in reading those sites.

I was privileged, like many others, to have regular phone conversations with him over several years and even though he was a West Adelaide supporter & Sponsor invariably the conversation would include all SANFL clubs and their players - He had a passion and belief in SANFL footy that was bigger than just barracking for one club and set an example for all of the right attitude to have if we want our competition to survive.

Sometimes in life we do not realize how special people we have contact with are until they are gone - in this case it leaves a large gap in my life.

RIP mate

Oldfella

Official announcements are expected in tomorrows paper however I believe that the Funeral will be on Tuesday at 2pm --- Harrisons on Golden Grove Road (next to swimming centre).

I would also like to pass on my condolences and I'm sure those of all of us on SAFooty to his family and friends. Dash would often phone with news of player signings and all things football and West Adelaide in particular and football in general can't afford to lose people with such a passion for SANFL as Darryl had.

No way!!! A shock followed by legitimate sadness, I enjoyed the PM's I shared with him.

My thoughts are with Dash, his family, his mates and the footy club he was so obviously proud of and passionate toward.

Cheers,
JK

Dash was definately a character and I'm a big fan od characters. I had the pleasure of meeting him in real life as well as sharing many pms with him. He was always full of enthusiasm about anything he was dealing with and both I and Safooty will miss him. My thoughts go out to his family. RIP Dash. :(

RIP Dash61. Terribly saddened to hear of his passing.

I had received a PM from him late Monday night with some interesting info... I'd replied and he was getting back to me. I'd been waiting to hear back from him and thought it was odd. Its really quite eerie looking back on our discussion from Monday night now knowing what had happened Tuesday. He was so full of optimism for the Bloods next few years. May they fulfill all your hopes for them Dash!! RIP

I never PM'd him or anything, perhaps I replied to a post of his or two or he did to mine but seeing that name with Vale written next to it made something move in my chest. I didn't know him so well as I have already said, but I still feel a loss for his passing. He was somebody who was part of the character of this board.
RIP Dash 61.
