The Paskeville Hotel is tipped to be closing down after 100+ years serving the local community. Have had many a cleansing ale in there I might add.

Terrible news, never had a drink there myself, but everytime a pub closes I think a little bit of our spirit and heritage dies, particularly if it is a country pub :(

The pub in Lock on the Eyre Peninsula apparently closed down a few years ago, but i think re-opened recently after the mini mining boom just out of Cowell.

It has always staggered me how that pub survived for so many years as during summer the Town of Lock would be empty as the locals would be at the beach. Darke Peak's pub on the other hand a short 30min drive away seems to be going strong and that town is smaller than Lock.

Anyway with the mining about to kick off over there I expect the pubs to do a roaring trade for the next few years at least.

Also I might add that when the Lock pub shut West End's sales figures for Southwark Bitter went through the floor  ;)

I was only a kid when living at Lock, but i do recall that the pub was pretty busy on a Saturday night after the local cricket and tennis teams had finished for the day.

If it's just after the climb up the Hummocks, it's Kulpara.

Paskeville is further on from there.
