Rain?

How much can the metro area take in one winter?
This must be ( with out looking into Spelly's spreadsheets
) one of the wettest winters in memory. Not only have we had decent falls but like today we have had sustained soakings that have gone on for hours at a time. Just hope the people who need it in the country are having some come thier way.
My rainwater tanks ( 3 x 3000ltrs ) are full and over flowing as we speak.

Yep,
I can see the neighbours two water tanks overflowing and running over my fence as we speak...lol.
Remembering that this changes every 10 minutes...
But here is what's happening at the moment...
Lots and lots and lots of rain !

Here at Richmond it has been belting down for the last hour. Catchments would be a good idea Media Mike...

I'm working in Elizabeth West and it hasnt rained once yet today...............
The factory yard is honestly flooded, its couple inches deep all over, drains need to be fixed id say.
Floods worse than the GG oval.

Adelaide has been an unsustainable in it's water supply since the '50s.
The Mannum pipeline was built then and even today, in a good year only about 40% of our water requirements are supplied by our catchments, which incidently only hold 12 months worth. The rest is piped from the dying Murray.
In a bad year, over 90% is sourced from the Murray.
The fact that we don't recycle water into our potable supply and embrace stormwater harvesting is shameful.
But we go one better and allow stormwater to go out to sea then we will now desalinate that seawater at great expense.

Heaviest rain I can recall EVER at my time living in Lockleys. Will wait a few hours and go have a look at the River, as there will be a fair bit of water getting out to sea (and to see if the new Wetlands catchment area in Breakout Creek works).....

Well talk about rain !
My afternoon just got a little more interesting
Rain started pouring through a downlight in the kitchen,
And then a hole developed in the roof in the lounge room and started to drip!!

Mrs Jimmy rang to say the kitchen is flooding - had to go home - a blocked drain - I only cleaned them a month ago

It's actually only just above average for rainfall in the winter months. (215mm, avg. 204.1)
Today however, is already the 17th wettest September day on record.

And rightly so.
Seen the Murray upstream from Milang lately ?
It would be a foolish decision to relax water restrictions anytime in the next 12 months.
