Marriage Advice

Postby Big Phil » Mon Aug 24, 2009 3:58 pm

So, the time has almost come, I take the big plunge this Saturday and get married up in the Clare Valley !!

Really excited about it, almost glad it is going to be over and done with as it has been pretty stressfull with all the planning and preparation.

So for all those married veterans out there, what advice would you give to not only make sure the day goes well but importantly, the rest of my life with the wife to be !!

Cheers,

BP

Oh, that's alrigh then, would be pretty embarrasing obviously...

As long as I don't mix red wine and beer I should be okay ;)

And before anyone choses to post it, don't worry about writing...

DON'T DO IT ;)

I've already been told that plenty of times

Examples of bad taste at weddings I've been to:

A) The bridal party had their wedding photos on a camel farm dressed as characters from The English Patient, complete with a Nazi soldier.

B) The reception was held at Grand Central (nothing wrong with that!) except that the meal was served from the back of a spud van, the couple didn't use the in house catering.

C) I'm going to a wedding in coming months where the groom and his party will be wearing denim shorts.

happy wife, happy life...

words of wisdom passed on to me, pretty spot on too.

for the wedding itself, DO NOT take away any attention from her, and don't let any tom, dick and 3rd uncle twice removed give speeches... have someone you know that is funny MC, someone with some kind of stage presence. we had an outdoor reception and about 350 people there so i made sure i chose someone who was confident in that situation...
I am not talking to you for 3 minutes because you punched me in the head and it hurt and that was not okay for you to do

Agree on the MC and THE speeches.
We had an awesome MC - it was a stinking hot day and she introduced herself by sculling a glass of wine, got everyone in the mood.

Good career move to thank your new wife at this point, BP :)

While trying to get scores from Central v Sturt, try not to cheer in the middle of the father-in-law's speech either. It could create impressions either way, that will set the tone for years to come.
Can you guess where I'm calling from, the Las Vegas Hilton...

Stay sober enough to be able to "do the deed". Brewer's droop won't get you off on the right foot..... or the left one for that matter!
Good luck, you silly pr^ck! ;) Why stuff up a good relationship by marrying her?

For a fleeting moment, I wonder why anyone in their right mind would ever willingly give up just about everything good in life to get married, and then I remember that I, too, was that stupid, so...um...carry on, I guess. Maybe you'll be one who doesn't regret one making one of the stupidest decisions of your life.
